Abstract

The ceiling of a sterile room, such as on operating theatre, is designed to provide ventilation. It is constructed from hollow, perforated, rectangular panels (32-44) which are mounted on a grid of support beams. The hollow panels form air ducts and the air is directed downwards into the sterile room through holes with nozzles (62-64) in the undersides of the panels. The holes are so distributed that they lie inside an ellipse (10). In addition a number of nozzles (62) to (64) and (72) to (74) are fitted around the central opening (11) for the room light fitting.
