Abstract

The action of a dewatering press section of a paper machine is based on the controlled passage of a gaseous medium across the paper web to be dewatered. The dewatering is effected in the press gas between two cylinders on the paper which is at least partly in a saturated stage. Pressurised water vapour from a perforated top cylinder passes through the paper web and is extracted through the perforations of the bottom cylinder.
