Abstract
The adjustable-height piston is particularly for an internal-combustion engine, having a control chamber between the crown and bottom part. The flow of fluid to and from the chamber (4) is regulated by a component (19) operated as desired, typically a slide regulating both inlet and outlet ports (9,11). There can also be a damping chamber (15) between crown and bottom part, filled and emptied in iverse proportion to the control chamber and with a non-return valve (17) in the passage (15) to it. A slide shuts the passage off between valve and chamber.
