Abstract

The folding top to be protected as a patent comprises firm, sheet-like parts which are connected to one another by folding-top cloth and are supported against one another in such a manner that they form a virtually completely firm roof without requiring bows and linkages. The roof pillars can be separated by the vehicle body and roof but remain connected to the rear window by folding-top cloth and can be pivoted to the rear by approximately 270@ around the latter. When the folding top is closed the round shaped-out portions on the roof are clasped by the cloth. <IMAGE>

Description

Task: convertible top which mainly with regard the wear resistance, the assembly effort at the Production and the clarity of the properties reached hardtops and folded back Condition no more space than a soft top bean speaks; Four-seaters without a roll bar must be possible be.

Convertible tops are e.g. Currently as a collapsible frame made of bow and frame, which are covered by soft top covers. In some versions, the front flat roof section is already designed as a fixed, separately removable cover. In the rear three-dimensional part of the convertible top, consisting of the rear window, two roof posts (C- pillars) and the horizontal roof section connecting these three parts, only the rear window could previously be formed. The clarity of convertible tops with a fixed rear window is particularly poor, they also require a cumbersome to handle cover tarpaulin that takes up a lot of space when the roof is closed in the trunk or rear seat. Flexible rear windows are not acceptable due to wear and the lack of window heating. The convertible top compartment restricts the space even when the roof is closed. Few convertibles have a retractable one- or multi-part hardtop instead of the foldable convertible top. This requires expensive sinking aids. For four-seaters, the sunken hardtop takes up a lot of space.

The convertible top to be protected as a patent consists of solid, flat parts which are connected to each other by the top cover and are supported against each other in such a way that they form an almost completely solid roof without the need for sprie gel and rods. The roof covering can be fastened by the frame for a pop-up roof in front of the roof part, the frame for the windows in the C- pillars, laterally by profile strips, the rain gutters and accommodate seals for the side windows or lock the C -pillars up and down .

If two roof parts are required, they are connected by sliding bars (no. 5 ) and coil springs arranged in parallel. The sealing between the roof parts and the convertible top cover is based on the principle of shape no. 1 . The front roof section can also be designed so that it can be removed separately; this requires additional fastenings between the rear roof section, C- pillars and body so that it can also be driven semi-open. The roof posts (C- pillars) can be separated from the body and roof, but remain connected to the rear window by a cover and can be swiveled backwards by approximately 270 °. The rear window is supported on the body with two devices according to drawing 7. The round shape on the roof (No. 1 of the drawings) is covered by the cover when the top is closed.
