Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Saugzugvorrichtung für Dampfkesselanlagen o. dgl. mit im Schornstein arbeitendem Schraubenpropeller. Bei Vorrichtungen dieser Art hat man bisher als Antriebsmaschine für den Propeller im allgemeinen Dampfturbinen oder Elektromotoren verwandt, und die Schraubenpropeller besitzen einen Durchmesser, der nur um einige wenige Zentimeter geringer ist als der lichte Durchmesser des Schornsteines. Dies geschieht zu dem Zweck, zwischen Flügelende und Schornsteinwand einen Spielraum zu bekommen, der bei den nicht zu vermeidenden Schwingungen der im allgemeinen fliegend gelagerten Propeller ein Anstoßen derselben an der Schornsteinwand verhindert. Diese Propeller erhalten nun bei der angegebenen Anordnung, insbesondere bei Schiffskesselanlagen, einen ziemlich bedeutenden Durchmesser, der oft mehrere Meter beträgt. Demzufolge können für die Propellerwelle nur verhältnismäßig geringe Umlaufsgeschwindigkeiten in Frage kommen. Die Folge davon ist, daß die Antriebsmaschine nicht in wirtschaftlicher Weise ausgenutzt werden kann, da sie nicht mit der ihrem höchsten Wirkungsgrad entsprechenden Geschwindigkeit laufen kann.
