Abstract

The lift-off hinge assembly includes a first hinge leaf connected to a second leaf by a pin rotatably located in one leaf. The hinge pin is connected to the other hinge leaf by a removable axially compressible collar which is located at least in part within a hinge eye of the other hinge leaf. The collar is arranged so that when the collar is placed under axial compression it rotatably locks the hinge pin and other hinge leaf together. Pref. the compressible collar has inclined outer surfaces which are co-operable with the hinge eye of the other hinge leaf to achieve correct positioning of the other hinge leaf relative to the hinge pin during axial compression of the collar.
