Abstract

A method for cutting pieces, intended to be assembled, from a portion of check fabric (1), with a view to obtaining continuity or alignment of the pattern motif at certain assembly points, comprises the following stages: - placing the portion of fabric on a cutting table (2); - storing in a computer (5), loaded with appropriate software, the shapes, positions and orientations of the pieces to be cut out, a margin corresponding to half a pattern motif being reserved around certain pieces in one or two directions, as well as the position of the points which have to coincide on the pieces after assembly; - for each correspondence of points, taking a pair of images of the said portion of fabric, each image being substantially centred on one of the said points, with the aid of a camera (3) connected to the said computerised system (5), its coordinates in a reference system linked to the cutting table being controlled by the said computerised system; - displaying the two images on a screen (8) and observing the linear and/or angular differences in layout between the pattern motifs, especially by juxtapositions or superpositions of the pattern motifs; - correcting the difference in layout observed by operating an input aid (9, 10) until the pattern motifs of the said images correspond, at least in one direction, then validating the correction in order to store it in the computer memory; - recommencing the above stages for the other pieces to be cut out. <IMAGE>
