Description

Process for the production of synthetic resins. In the patent 374379 is described a method according to which by the action of acetaldehyde phenol resins on recent inferior natural resins, high-quality resins with copal-like properties can be obtained.

It has now been found that in the process of the main patent can partially replace acetaldehyde resins with formaldehyde resins. A complete one Replacement of acetaldehyde resins by formaldehyde resins is not possible because in the case of such the products lose their linseed oil solubility, which for the use is essential. The proportions used can vary widely Boundaries fluctuate. The mass is to temperatures of over ioo °, for example about Zoo °, heated and kept at this temperature until the melt is homogeneous is, d. H. solidified in the cold to a clear, transparent resin. Examples i. 40 parts of natural rosin are mixed with 60 parts of the condensation product from carbolic acid and formaldehyde fused and added to the melt at about 17o to 18o 'slowly with stirring 35 parts of the condensation product of cresol and paraldehyde added. Foaming occurs, which occurs when the temperature rises to 2io to 22o 'becomes livelier. The melt is kept at this temperature until a Sample no longer turns yellowish, cloudy and opaque when it cools, but closes solidified in a bright, transparent glass. The resulting resin can be smooth Cook with linseed oil to a usable varnish.

Dieses ist dann in Leinöl glatt löslich.2. i2o parts of the spruce resin and7o Parts of creosote-formaldehyde resin are not soluble in linseed oil with 3o parts of the resulting from the condensation of carbolic acid and paraldehyde Product mixed, the mixture melted and so long at temperatures above Zoo ° is heated until foaming has stopped and the mass becomes clear in the cold Resins solidified. This is then completely soluble in linseed oil.
