Die Schneidkante (32) der Messer (31) der Messerbaugruppe (30) steht hierbei gegenüber dem Schweißbalken (25) nach oben hin vor, so daß die Schneidkanten mit den Profilstrangabschnitten in Schneideingriff kommen und diese durchtrennen. Die abgeschnittenen Enden können entwe­ der durch Öffnungen zwischen den Messern (31) und dem Schweißbalken (35) herabfallen oder von Hand oder auf andere Weise entfernt werden. Am En­ de des Schneidhubes kommt die Sperrklinke (33) mit der Entriegelungs­ einrichtung (34) gemäß Fig. 1 in Berührung, wodurch die Sperrklinke ent­ riegelt wird und die Messerbaugruppe (30) unter der Wirkung der Vor­ spannfeder (11) nach unten hin gegenüber der Konditioniereinrichtung (20) zurückgezogen wird. Damit befindet sich lediglich noch der Schweiß­ balken (25) zwischen den Einspannvorrichtungen (40), die daraufhin in Richtung auf diesen Schweißbalken (25) vorgeschoben werden können, um die Schnittkanten der Profilstrangabschnitte mit diesem Schweißbalken in Berührung zu bringen. Hierdurch erfolgt ein Anschmelzen der Schnitt­ kanten und der Schweißbalken (25) wird nach dem Anschmelzen der Schnitt­ kanten ebenfalls nach unten bewegt, so daß die Einspannvorrichtungen und damit die Schnittkanten gegeneinander bewegt werden können.
