Abstract
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Hochfrequenzmischer laut Oberbegriff des Hauptanspruches. The invention relates to a high frequency mixer according to Preamble of the main claim.
High-frequency mixers of this type are known (Radio Communication, Vol. 50, No. 12, pages 854 to 856, December 1974; Frequency 34 (1980) 1, pages 2 to 6; DE-AS 27 13 318). For a double frequency conversion of this known type, the output frequency of the common local oscillator is increased by means of a frequency multiplier, for example to 5 times the oscillator frequency, and thus the first mixer stage is controlled, while the subsequent second mixer stage is controlled directly with the output frequency of the local oscillator ( Fig. 1 by Radio Communication) . It is also known to arrange a corresponding bandpass filter at the output of such a double frequency conversion (DE-AS 27 13 318). In these known high-frequency mixers, the local oscillator can be implemented in a relatively low frequency range, but the frequency multipliers required to generate the higher-frequency local frequency require considerable circuitry outlay. High bandwidth amplifiers are required to amplify the multiplied beat frequency, and there are significant shielding, crosstalk, and matching problems with this multiplied beat frequency. In addition to the desired frequency multiplication, frequency multiplication also results in higher mixed products, for which additional shielding and filtering measures are necessary. To amplify the multiplied frequency, expensive transistors with a high cut-off frequency are also required.
The object of the invention is a simple high-frequency mixer to create that even for high input frequencies enables simple setup in the GHz range.
This task is based on a high frequency mixer according to the preamble of the main claim by its characteristic Features solved, an advantageous embodiment results from the subclaim.
In the high-frequency mixer according to the invention, expensive and problematic frequency multipliers are avoided and only the same immediate output frequency of the local oscillator is used for the individual mixing stages, the amplification, adaptation and shielding in this relatively low frequency band of the local oscillator can therefore be simple and cheap in the same way for all mixing stages will be realized. All amplifiers required for processing the superimposition frequencies each only require the 1 / nth bandwidth of the high input frequency and can therefore be implemented very inexpensively and with little adaptation problems. There are also no crosstalk and interference problems; even small shielding measures are sufficient to avoid interference with other modules. A mixer according to the invention can therefore not only be constructed inexpensively, but also in a very space-saving manner. In the simplest case, only two mixing stages arranged one after the other are provided, but depending on the input frequency and depending on the desired intermediate frequency, three or more mixing stages can also be arranged one after the other, the number of mixing stages determining the reduction in the superposition frequency in relation to the desired input frequency band.
The setting of the local oscillator to the respective Beat frequency (depending on the respective Input frequency) can be by hand or if necessary can also be carried out automatically. For one Fixed frequency receiver is the local oscillator, which is preferably designed as a frequency synthesizer, simply based on the given input frequency resulting frequency value fixed. With a recipient, which is adjustable to predetermined different input frequencies is, the local oscillator is also another Assigned setting device in which from the User entered target input frequency which is made up of associated superposition frequency value resulting from the formula is calculated, on which the local oscillator is set. This setting could possibly be can also be automated by adding an additional Frequency meter in each case at the input of the receiver unknown input frequency measured and over the Adjustment device then again the associated beat frequency is calculated, to which the oscillator is then set becomes.
The invention is based on a schematic Drawing explained in more detail using an exemplary embodiment.
Die Überlagerungsfrequenz f o ist für jede Eingangsfrequenz f e zuThe figure shows a high-frequency mixer of a GHz high-frequency receiver, which in the exemplary embodiment shown consists of three mixing stages M 1 , M 2 , M 3 connected in series. Each of these mixing stages M 1 , M 2 , M 3 is controlled by a common local oscillator LO with the same local frequency f o . The input frequency f e is mixed down by the first mixer M 1 to the first intermediate frequency f ₁ (f 1 = f e - f o ) , in the second mixer M 2 this first intermediate frequency f ₁ is in turn mixed down to the second intermediate frequency f ₂ ( f 2 = f 1 - f o = f e -2 f o ) , in the third mixing stage M 3 there is a further downmixing of f ₂ to the desired fixed intermediate frequency f z (f z = f 2 - f o = f e - 3 f o ) . The beat frequency f o, f for each input frequency to e
f o = (f e - f z )/n f o = (f e - f z ) / n
If, for example, an input frequency band between 0 and 2 GHz is to be mixed down to a constant intermediate frequency f z = 20 MHz, the local oscillator LO according to the exemplary embodiment with three mixing stages is mixed to a local frequency f o = (2000-20) / for an input frequency of 2 GHz. 3 = 660 MHz set. For each other input frequency f e of the frequency band 0 to 2 GHz, the associated beat frequency f o can be calculated in this way and set either manually or automatically on the beat oscillator LO . The first and second intermediate frequencies f ₁, f ₂ are not constant, but vary, only the last desired output intermediate frequency f z is constant.
Since only the respective difference between the respective input frequency and the superimposition frequency is used in each mixing stage in the mixing process according to the invention and not the sum frequencies that arise at the same time, there is a filter BP behind the series connection of the mixing stages M 1 , M 2 , M 3 . Preferably a bandpass is arranged, which is dimensioned such that only that mixed product (f z = f e -3 f o ) is screened out and is available at output A for further processing in the receiver, which results if only these frequency differences in each case the mixing stages are processed further, in the first mixing stage M 1 only the frequency difference f e - f o , in the mixing stage M 2 only f 1 - f o and in the third mixing stage only f 2 - f o . For the mixer stages M 2 and M 3 , this means that the input frequency f ₁ and f ₂ is always only the difference frequency of the previous mixer stage. In the above-mentioned numerical example, the filter BP is for example a band-pass filter with a center frequency of 20 MHz, for the case of a sufficiently small intermediate frequency f z could also be used on a somewhat above f z sized low-pass filter. If problems arise with the resulting and no further processed mixing products between the individual mixing stages, additional additional filters, for example again low-pass or band-pass filters, could be interposed between these individual mixing stages M 1 , M 2 , M 3 , each of which only that Pass the difference signal of the previous mixer stage, whereby it should be noted that these intermediate frequencies are still variable. By selecting the frequency plan accordingly, such additional filters can generally be dispensed with.
The setting of the local oscillator LO to each of calculated frequency f o takes place via an adjusting device S, in which, for example automatically depending on the entered input frequency f s the respective associated beat frequency f o is calculated and then the oscillator LO, which is preferably formed as a synthesizer, is set exactly. If necessary, this setting can also be automated by automatically determining and calculating the associated superposition frequency f o in this setting device S from the input frequency f e entered by means of a corresponding frequency measurement.
