With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 denotes an air intake group for commercial vehicles.
This group 1 comprises an outer housing 2 with two chambers 3, 4 for the intake noise damping or the filtering. The filter chamber 4 has an essentially cylindrical shape with slightly curved side walls 5 . The silencer chamber 3 has a substantially parallelepiped shape, the width and height of which essentially correspond to the diameter and the height of the chamber 4 , and which has a vertical wall 6 with a concave shape, so that the side profile of a part 7 of the opposite side wall 5 is simulated . The walls 6 and 7 mentioned are interrupted in the upper region and connected to one another in such a way that a connecting space 8 is formed between the chambers 3 and 4 .
Structurally, the housing 2 consists of three parts which are suitably pressed from plastic, namely from a central part 11 , which forms the part of the chamber 3 opposite the chamber 4 , an upper half of the chamber 4 and the corresponding connecting space 8 , one Element 12 , which forms the remaining part of the chamber 3 and which is connected to the central part 11 via corresponding outer edges 13 , 14 , which abut one another and are connected by screws (the axes 15 of which are shown), and consists of a third element 16 , which forms the lower part of the chamber 4 .
The chamber 4 is provided with a round opening 17 which is embedded in an upper wall 18 of the chamber 4 itself. In the interior of the opening 17 , a metallic holder 21 is mounted, which consists of a ring band 22 mounted on an annular inner edge 19 of the wall 18 and a ring strip 22 which runs downwards and with the ring band 22 via a plurality of lamellae 24 which are arranged essentially in the form of a beam and are welded to one another , Connected center tube 23 . In the chamber 4 a filter 25 is accommodated, which consists of a tubular element 26 , for example made of folded paper, which is provided at the top with a metal ring 27 and at the bottom with a plate 28 which has a bore in the middle. The filter 25 is held in the chamber 4 by a screw 31 provided with a wing nut 32 , which is guided through the central bore of the plate 28 and screwed into an end piece 33 with an internal thread of the tube 23 ; In order to facilitate the alignment of screw 31 and tube 23 , the latter is provided at the end with an essentially funnel-shaped receiving element 34 .
The element 16 of the housing 2 is connected to the central part 11 via the screw 31 , on the second threaded end 35 of which a wing nut 36 is screwed, which is latched into a central bore 37 of the element 16 . It should be noted that an annular seal 38 is present between the ring 27 and the upper wall 18 of the element 12 .
The element 12 is provided at the top with a circular inlet opening 39 , from which a short cylindrical connecting piece 41 extends. A pipe 42 , which is latched into the mouth, consisting of a cylindrical inlet part 43 , an intermediate part 44 with a smaller cross-section and a line 45 with a cross-section that increases in size towards the bottom of the chamber 3 , is mounted in the interior of this connecting piece 41 . The line 45 ends in a flat wall 46 which is inclined by approximately 45 ° with respect to the line axis and to the interior of the chamber 3 . The line 45 and the flat wall 46 have a plurality of bores 47 .
Group 1 is also provided with a device 51 for pre-separating the dusts. This device 51 comprises two walls 52 , 53 , which are suitably made by injection molding and which are substantially parallel to each other; these walls 52, 53 are fastened with the respective edges 54 , 55 , which are connected to one another and are arranged between said outer edges 13 and 14 of the elements 11 and 12 , via elements 15 .
A total of several cylindrical lines 56 with a horizontal axis extend from the essentially flat wall 52 , inside of which the air via openings 57 in the form of a circular ring, which are delimited on the outside by the lines 56 themselves and on the inside by cylindrical projections 58 of the wall 52 , can occur. These openings 57 are provided with a plurality of radial guide vanes 59 which are inclined with respect to the axis of the lines 56 so that the air receives a helical movement. The wall 53 abuts the lines 56 frontally and represents the beginning of completely corresponding cylindrical parts 60 which are continuous and whose diameter and length are smaller than the diameter and the length of the lines 56 , and which are concentric in the corresponding lines 56 are arranged so that they form cyclones 61 for the pre-separation of the coarser dusts. Each conduit 56 has an opening 62 at the bottom; the wall 53 is provided at the bottom with an inclined part 63 , towards the bottom of which a line open at the bottom opens, which is opposite a short connecting piece 71 in the bottom wall of the element 11 , at the end of which a conventional valve 64 for manually discharging the dusts is attached . The cyclones 61 are arranged in three adjacent rows of four cyclones 61 each.
The group 1 is completed by an outlet line 65 with a substantially dome-shaped and airtight part 66 fastened on the upper wall 18 of the chamber 4 , from which a cylindrical nozzle 67 extends in the radial direction.
In Fig. 3 a group 1 'is shown according to another embodiment of the present invention. The group 1 'differs from group 1 by the absence of the connector 41 and the pipe 42nd In this case, the air enters through the front of the element 12 'and slots 68 protected by slots 69 directly into the chamber 3 '.
The operation of group 1 is described below.
The air enters the tube 42 and penetrates through the bores 47 into the sound-absorbing chamber 3 ; the tube 42 also takes over the task of reducing noise, since the propagation of the sound waves coming from the engine is interrupted to the outside. The air then passes through the openings 57 and, due to its helical movement caused by the guide vanes 59 , the heavier dust particles separate due to centrifugal force and collect in the annular regions between the lines 56 and the cylindrical parts 60 . The dust falls down through the openings 62 of the conduits 56 and is fed through the inclined part 63 of the wall 53 to the drain valve 64 , where it can be removed in a conventional manner by simple manual pressure.
The air, which is free of coarser dust particles, flows through the cylindrical parts 60 and the connection space 8 and reaches the filter chamber 4 . There it flows through the filter 26 , on which the remaining dust particles are deposited, in a substantially radial direction and exits from group 1 via the opening 17 and the line 65 .
The functioning of group 1 'corresponds overall to the functioning of group 1 , of course with the exception of the missing parts.
From the description of the suction groups according to the invention the associated advantages emerge.
Above all, the sound-absorbing chamber 3 and the filter chamber 4 , although they have their own outer parts, are integrated in a single outer housing 2 ; thereby group 1 or 1 'can be pre-assembled and installed in the vehicle without using connecting pipes between the above-mentioned chambers. Since the outer housing also results from the connection of several complementary parts, the costs for pressing the individual parts are reduced. In fact, in the conventional solution, two half-shells for the sound-absorbing chamber and two half-shells for the filter chamber, including the corresponding connecting pipes, have to be produced; the present invention reduces the number of parts to three ( 11, 12, 16 ), which saves raw material and machine time. In addition, the complete modular structure of group 1 is to be noted, which can be produced as a basic version with only the two chambers 3 , 4 or integrated with the device 51 for pre-separating the coarser dusts and / or with the pipe 42 for the purpose of higher sound absorption. without the basic components ( 11 , 12 , 16 , filter 25 ) having to be changed. In this way, depending on the main application, different groups 1 can be created despite the high standardization of the components.
Within the scope of the claims, groups 1 and 1 'can be adapted to application-specific requirements by variants and changes.
In particular, as can be seen, device 51 and tube 42 can be omitted; the number and arrangement of the cyclones 61 can be changed; In addition, the number and shape of the various components of the housing 2 , as well as the type of filter 25 and the construction of the same can be changed.
