Abstract

For management of charges on communications devices, e.g. television sets and telephone sets in hospitals or hotels, a central data processing system is provided whose memory comprises memory spaces allocated to the individual communications devices. The communications devices are connected via terminals to the data processing system. The terminals record the use of the communications devices and, controlled by the data processing system, enable the blocking of the respectively allocated communications device if no charge credit is available in the allocated memory space. The usage charge in the case of outgoing telephone calls is calculated through evaluation of the dialling information and comparison with a time zone directory in the data processing system.
