Die vorliegende Erfindung hat den Zweck, den aus Stahl, Eisen oder einem anderen Metall oder einer Metallcomposition gefertigten Läufen der Handfeuerwaffen durch Verdichtung ihres Materials eine gröfsere Härte, Elasticität und Widerstandsfähigkeit zu geben. Diese Verdichtung des Materials in Verbindung mit einer gleichzeitigen Härtung desselben wird durch starke Pressung im Wasser oder einer sonstigen geeigneten Flüssigkeit erreicht. Man bringt zu dem Behufe z. B. die fertigen Gewehrlaufstäbe oder die fertiggestellten Läufe in einen entsprechend starken Behälter, füllt denselben mit Wasser oder einer sonstigen Flüssigkeit und übt auf diese einen Druck bis zu 8 000 Atmosphären und darüber aus. Dieser Druck wird beispielsweise durch eine Druckpumpe, eine hydraulische Presse u. s. w. ausgeübt, oder aber man stellt den vorerwähnten Behälter unter einen Fallhammer, wobei der nöthige Druck durch dessen Fall und Schlag auf den Druckkolben erzeugt wird. Die Intensität des ausgeübten Druckes, wodurch es ermöglicht wird, die betreffenden Läufe stets gleichmäfsig zu verdichten und zu härten, kann an einem Manometer abgelesen werden. Das gleiche Verfahren kann man bei Gefäfsen, Röhren und Artikeln aller Art, welche aus Eisen, Stahl oder einem anderen Metall oder einer Metallcomposition gefertigt sind und wegen ihrer Form einer Pressung auf gewöhnliche Art nicht unterworfen werden können, anwenden, um ihre Wandungen oder ihr Material überhaupt härter, elastischer und widerstandsfähiger zu machen.The present invention has the purpose the barrels made of steel, iron or another metal or a metal composition of the handguns due to the compression of their material a greater hardness, elasticity and To give resilience.
