Description

Procedure for the decomposition of 1Vetal salt solutions. Addition to the patent 363953. In patent 363953 is a method for breaking down mixed metal salt solutions described in which the anode compartment from the outset with a pure solution of the Salt of the more noble metal, the cathode compartment on the other hand with the solution to be dismantled is charged. This complication can occur with such mixed metal salt solutions omitted, their components at least partially by fractional crystallization can be separated. In such a case one can simply use the whole electrolysis vessel fill with the solution to be dismantled. The electrolysis then separates them held in two different solutions by adding the catholyte to the salt of the nobler metal is depleted, while the anolyte is enriched in the salt. If you subtract each of the two solutions separately and bring them to the fractionated Crystallization, then that salt separates out which is in excess was present, i.e. from the anolyte the salt of the nobler one, from the catholyte the salt of the less noble metal. Appropriately, of course, one will proceed in such a way that the anolyte is completely freed from the salt of the nobler metal, so that they are processed directly and completely to the pure salt of the base metal can while the catholyte is subjected to fractional crystallization and subjected the remaining mother liquor to the above-described electrolysis anew will. If it is z. B. is the decomposition of a cupronickel vitriol solution, so one becomes the solution as long as the fractional crystallization before the electrolysis subjugate when only pure copper vitriol is precipitated. When the point is reached where nickel vitriol begins to crystallize out, the mother liquor becomes the electrolysis "Subjected in the manner described above. The liquid in the cathode compartment loses here the entire copper content, while the anolyte is in the corresponding Enriched with vitriol. Fractional crystallization can now this enrichment can be obtained in pure form from the anolyte, whereupon the remaining mother liquor in turn to the electrolysis according to the present process is subjected. Of course, as in the main proceedings, the Electrodes interchanged with a reasonable gap.
