Abstract

1. A contactless projectile for an electrical railgun, said gun comprising two parallel metal rails connected by a source of direct current, said projectile including means (6) for establishing a contactless metallic connection between the two rails through the projectile, and being characterized in that it includes two electrical circuits (410, 420) disposed symmetrically about the plane of the rails (1, 2), having current flowing therearound, and establishing a magnetic field opposite to that established by the current passing through the rails, each of the circuits (410, 420) comprising two turns, the width of one of them (411, 421) being wider than the spacing of the rails, and the width of the other of them (412, 422) being no wider than that of the rails, said means being a metal part (6) having two ends (6A, 6B) close to respective ones of the rails (1, 2).
