Abstract

H2-rich stream is produced by treating a hydrogen and hydrocarbon effluent from a catalytic hydrocarbon conversion reaction zone by (a) passing a portion of the effluent to a first liq.-vapour equilibrium sepn. zone and recovering from it a hydrogen-contg. vapour phase and a first liq. phase containg hydrocarbons; (b) subjecting a first portion of the hydrogen-containing vapour phase to indirect heat exchange with a hydrogen-rich gas stream; (c) subjecting 10-20 vol.% of the first liq. phase to indirect heat exchange with a second liq. phase; (d) admixing the heat exchanged first portion of the hydrogen-contg. vapour phase and the heat exchanged portion of the first liq. phase and refrigerating the admixture; (e) passing the refrigerated admixture to a second vapour-liq. equilibrium sepn. zone to produce a hydrogen-rich gas stream and a second liquid phase; (f) subjecting the hydrogen-rich gas stream to indirect heat exchange with the first portion of the hydrogen-contg. vapour phase pursuant to step (b) above and subjecting the second liq. phase to indirect heat exchange with the portion of the first liq. phase pursuant to step (c) above; and (g) recovering the heat exchanged hydrogen-rich gas stream.
