Description
Process for the production of multicolored decorations on aluminum containing metal objects. The invention relates to a method of decorating of aluminum, aluminum alloys or a metal gene, being a component consists of aluminum. The method according to the invention consists in particular in that multicolored decorations, designations, letters etc. on metal surfaces, which contain aluminum, can be printed on.
According to the invention, the different layers of paint become inseparable combined with each other and applied to the metal surface under heat.
In practice it has been shown that if a thin or proportionate thin layer of vitreous material with the heated surface of Aluniinium or an aluminum alloy or a mixture of metals containing aluminum is brought, this layer adheres firmly to the metal surface. Has continued found that if the aluminum on which the layer of vitreous material is applied, is brought to a sufficiently high temperature, a chemical Reaction between the oxide on the metal surface and the glassy one on top Matdrial is created. The result of this reaction and the heat produced is that such material converted into a vitreous state and a, composition which causes the vitreous material to adhere to the metal will. The method according to the invention is based on this chemical reaction, where mineral paints are used with binders made of vitreous material are mixed with known melting points.
To these dyes containing the binders mentioned for printing To make them suitable, they have to be mixed with liquid or sticky materials uni in this way to obtain printing inks which by means of any desired printing process can be applied to the metal plate, the Imprints from pressure surfaces to which the workpiece is usually exposed gradually will take place. The liquid or other materials should be kept at a low temperature be volatile so that they can evaporate from the mass before the unification process begins between the binders and the metal surface. This way there will be bubbles etc. avoided in the labels.
The melting point of any 'mixture, consisting of mineral color and glassy binder, depends on the ratio between the amount of the binder and the amount of color; In particular, the greater the amount of binder with respect to the amount of paint, the lower the temperature required for melting.
The implementation of the method according to the invention takes place in such a way that initially, is to be such that the ink Herge the color with which the first print overall makes to be, contains the largest percentage of glassy binder, the next color a slightly lower percentage, etc. The difference in the melting temperature between two consecutive colors should be noticeable, but in no way excessive.
The surface of the aluminum sheet or the object on which the inscription, the letters, etc. are to be applied must, as is easily evident, be smooth, but preferably oxidized to a certain extent. There are then made sequentially to the surface of overprints and the printed sheet or the printed article is then placed in egg-NEN oven in which a temperature prevails that the melting of the highest - melting point aufweisen- i the color causes. Since the aluminum sheet or the object in question and the various layers of paint thereon are heated, the first step is the melting of the color which is closest to the sheet or object, and this color is firmly combined with the aluminum without the Any or neighboring colors can be influenced. A second color is then achieved, which now combines with the first color, which is already firmly attached to the aluminum, and the third and the other colors are then achieved one after the other. After the consolidation process is complete, the aluminum sheet or object is removed from the oven, preferably in such a way that the sheet or object is passed through lower and lower temperatures so as to prevent the decoration from coming off, etc. .
The purpose of using colors that are predetermined and different Have melting points is to prevent the colors from running into each other, while they are being attached to the metal sheet or object.
