Circuit to achieve practically constant terminal voltage in DC machines with variable speed. In patent 355400 a DC machine which supplies practically constant voltage at a variable speed is explained. Their mode of action is based on the counteraction of two fields. It is therefore larger than a normal machine. For this reason it can be advantageous to use this machine only as an auxiliary machine and to use it to control the excitation of another, normal machine in order to achieve constant voltage. Obviously, from an economic point of view, an increased weight and a heavier construction are far less significant for an auxiliary machine than for a power machine.
Beide Maschinen A und
B unterliegen denselben Geschwindigkeitsänderungen. Die Maschine B ist in
den Nebenschluß der . Hauptmaschine geschaltet.
A.The indicated circuit is shown in Fig. R. A is the main machine, the voltage of which is to be kept constant at a variable speed. B is the auxiliary machine designed according to patent 355400. Both machines A and B are subject to the same speed changes. The machine B is in the shunt of the. Main engine switched. Their tension should predominate in this circle, which can easily be achieved by utilizing the remanence, the resistance and the dimensions. The excitation current is not only given by the voltage of auxiliary machine B, but also by the voltage induced in armature A of the main machine. Both tensions. should work against each other. Even at the highest speeds, the voltage of the main machine A can only reach the voltage of the auxiliary machine B at best. If the voltage of the auxiliary riveting machine B remains practically constant with the speed, the tensioning of the main machine A does the same.
Offenbar
For a more detailed explanation, Fig. 2 shows the excitation current for a certain speed, the voltage E of the main machine A (curve 0 F G), the constant voltage e of the auxiliary machine (parallel HK) and the voltage drop i R in the excitation circuit C in the form of a straight line (Even HL). Obviously it must be: The intersection M of the curve 0 FG with the straight line H L gives the machine voltage of the main machine A. If the speed is twice as high as assumed in the drawing, the ordinates of 0 FG are to be doubled. The point of intersection M thus moves on the straight line H I. to H, but only falls into point H at an infinitely high speed. As can be seen from the figure, the voltage of the main machine A remains constant, the better the resistance Rist.
