Description

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Formsand. Dem Sande zur Herstellung von Formen für Eisenguß wird allgemein Steinkohlenpulver zugesetzt. Es wurde gefunden, daß sich die Steinkohle vorteilhaft durch die billigere Braunkohle ersetzen fäßt. Braunkohle ist aber von Wasser schwer b.enetzbar. Während sich Steinkohle leicht mit dem feuchten Sande mischt, oder eine Mischung von trocknem Sande mit Steinkohlen sich leicht anfeuchten läßt, erfordert die Mischung mit Braunkohle sehr lange Zeit. Man kann diesen Übelstand vermeiden, wenn man an Stelle gewöhnlicher Braunkohle eine wenig oder gar nicht wasserabstoßende Braunkohle, z. B. eine weitgehend in Alkalien lösliche Braunkohle, die sog. Hiiminsäure, verwendet, oder Braunkohle, der auf irgendeine Weise die Eigenschaft, wasserabstoßend zu sein, genommen ist, z. B. dadurch, daß man ihr das Wachs entzieht, odej daß man sie mit hygroskopischen Stoffen, wie Glyzerin, Chlorkalzium oder Chlormagnesium, mischt.
