Abstract

As specified in the main application P 3525051.8, it is known to scrub SO2 and NOx from combustion exhaust gases by the use of a wet-cycle scrubbing in which the scrubbing water contains iron(II) EDTA complex or iron(II) NTA complex. In order to obtain the iron(II) complex within the scrubbing solution, reducing agents are added or scrubbing water treatment processes are carried out in bypass operation in order to further reduce the iron which was oxidised by means of atmospheric oxygen from iron(II) to iron(III) in the chelate complex and thus to minimise the use of expensive reducing agents. In order further technically and economically to improve this process, in particular to reduce the consumption of reducing agent, it is proposed according to the invention that the iron(II) salts, preferably iron(II) sulphate, and calcium oxide, in particular hydrated lime, used for preparing the scrubbing solution, have a manganese content of less than 0.05 to 0.07% based on the dry substances.

Description

As an addition to patent application P 35 25 051.8, it was found according to the invention that with additives such as lime and iron (II) sulfate for the production of a washing solution for simultaneous So 2 / NO x processes with small amounts of manganese, the iron (II) resistance in the Fe EDTA complex is much more stable.

So z. B. proposed according to the invention that at the Iron II salts the amount of manganese by 0.05%, on a dry basis should be kept above the usual 0.14% dry basis.

Washout degrees of better than 10% at 0.05% in Iron II salt over 0.14% in the iron II salt, measured dry were found.
