Abstract

It is known that certain scrubbing liquids, under the influence of Fe II and at a defined redox potential, guarantee high degrees of scrubbing-out of SO2 and NOx. The difficulty with this known process lies in keeping the Fe II-chelate complex in the scrubbing solution, since new Fe III is continuously formed in the scrubbing process. In order to reduce this Fe III back to Fe II and in order to maintain the necessary redox potential, according to the invention it is proposed that the scrubbing liquid is directly or indirectly treated by UV radiation, preferably UV lamps.

Description

It has been found that known specific washing liquids under the influence of Fe-II and a certain redox potential guarantee high degrees of washing out of SO 2 and NO x .

The difficulty lies in maintaining it of the Fe-II chelate complex in the wash solution, there is always something new in the washing process Fe-III is formed.

To get this formed Fe-III back into Fe-II reduce and the necessary redox potential to maintain, it is proposed according to the invention  that UV lamps in the washing liquid to be immersed which is a thin layer of Irradiate the amount of washing liquid, or that the UV lamps are sprayed with washing liquid, and thereby Fe-III is reformed into Fe-II.

Depending on the strength of the radiation, a certain one Conversion rate achieved from Fe-III to Fe-II and a corresponding influence on the redox potential causes.
