Description
The invention relates to a Process for the rehabilitation of landfills, in particular of Landfills whose leachate contains organic, have halogenated compounds, the landfill upwards against the escape of gases and if necessary also downwards against leakage is sealed and the leachate of harmful stock parts to be cleaned.
From landfills, especially from landfills, on which too industrial wastes have been deposited, occur continuously Leachate from which harmful components, ins special organic compounds, e.g. B. Hydro substances, flavors, phenols, polycycles, etc., as well organic compounds such as B. metal salts, included can. The occurrence of such harmful Be Components in the leachate do not have to be from the beginning to occur, these harmful stocks come frequently share in the leachate only over time, especially when industrial wastes fall off in barrels were stored and this industrial waste released after rusting or breaking open the barrels and can enter the leachate. In In such a case, the harmful components continuously transferred into the leachate and the percolation Water can cause such damage for very long periods of time contain substances.
From "Rubbish and Waste" 3/1984, pages 68-77 is a Ver procedure for leachate circulation on landfills known. However, this procedure does not affect the actual landfill rehabilitation, but rather securing them. A purification of the leachate and its return on the landfill is not carried out here or by this suggested. Here, there is even a reduction in volume the leachate spoken. From EP 01 27 240 A1 still a procedure for treating seepage known from landfills where the seepage water can be cleaned using membrane filtration. A Drainage of leachate does not take place here, either no additional water is deliberately added, which in the Hin view of a membrane filtration, which is certainly not unnecessary large amounts of water should be processed, either obvious. In this EP 01 27 240 A1 the Ab sealing the floor of the landfill and its cover as well as the Collection and further treatment of the landfill gases are described.
The object of the present invention is a method for Rehabilitation of landfills, in which the leak leachate containing harmful substances is avoided and at the same time the rehabilitation of the landfill can be performed in shorter periods of time, d. H., in which the transfer of the harmful substances into the Leachate is accelerated, so that after shorter Periods of time than normal, mainly through the rain caused leaching by leachate harmful substances or components from the landfill can be removed. When using the fiction According to the procedure, such a landfill can be built after a comparatively shorter period of time referred to as "clean" be net.
Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe dient das erfindungsgemäße Ver fahren, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daßThe solution according to the invention is used to achieve this object drive, which is characterized in that
- a) die Deponie von oben durch gezielte Zufuhr von Rein wasser berieselt wird, unda) the landfill from above by targeted supply of pure water is sprinkled, and
- b) die unten aus der Deponie ausgetretenen und gereinig ten Sickerwässer erneut als Berieselungswasser einge setzt werden, bis die Deponie von schädlichen Stoffen oder Bestandteilen freigewaschen ist.b) those that have emerged from the landfill below and are cleaned leachate again as sprinkling water be put until the landfill of harmful substances or components is washed free.
The landfill is sprinkled with water large and targeted, and the Aus used here "Sprinkling" is also intended to press in the sprinkler water in the holes in the ground.
Advantageous embodiments of the method are shown in claims 2 to 7 described in more detail.
The method according to the invention is described with reference to the drawing, which is a schematic flow diagram provides, explained in more detail.
The inventive method is based on the fact that Landfill by deliberate or targeted supply of sprinkler or clean water, which is collected safely, in shorter Periods of harmful substances or components is washed free.
If the landfill is located in an area which contains no sealing floor layers, which means that Passage of leachate into the groundwater or in deeper layers of the earth can be avoided, it is he required the landfill down against the exit or to seal the passage of leachate. This can through a sealing layer of swelling clays, ge possibly with sealing additives in themselves known way can be achieved.
A is preferred in the method according to the invention Sealing upwards against the escape of gases brings. Such a seal can also be made from a sealing clay layer exist, but it can also Covers from gas-tight tarpaulins are attached where with this sealing layer or this cover ge has suitable openings to always get out of the landfill escaping gases. The escaping and collected gases can be cleaned from harmful components and disposed of in a manner known per se. The area covered is limited by the depo for the washout process irrigation area never necessary, but overall escaping leachate over time con is kept constant.
The gases can burn at high temperatures Suitable gas burners are suitable for this purpose advantageously as a vortex burner in one of high existing heat-resistant ceramic materials Combustion chamber can be arranged. On the other hand, it is also possible that emerging from the landfill and trapped gases to ent in another suitable manner worry, for example by passing through nete filter.
The seepage emerging and collected from the landfill water, the harmful components of which are both organic Can be compounds as well as inorganic substances be advantageously, as in the schematic Flow diagram is shown, in a cycle. Here at the toxic organic substances are suitable removed way. This distance can, for example by cleaning the leachate by Adsorp tion done on a polymer resin, as in DE-OS 33 35 994 and DE-OS 34 01 867 is described. According to the presence The organic substances can be various effective Adsorbent, preferably based on polymer be set to achieve high cleaning performance aim. For the selective separation of volatile These can be contaminated by air stripping before actual adsorption plant or one to follow the biological cleaning stage can be removed. The aim of this or other pre-treatment measures is the toxic organic substances first from the landfill To remove leachate so that a subsequent bio logical cleaning, e.g. B. in a separate biological Clarification stage or in the form of self-cleaning within the soil of the landfill as part of a sprinkler system and the washout effect as a whole is not disturbed.
By pretreatment measures, preferably by adsorb tive removal of pollutants from polymer resins also prevents that due to the season Fluctuations in the concentration of pollutants in the seepage water occur, which then leads to adverse interference biological cleaning.
The recycling of the landfill leachate enables light again advantageously after cleaning Use of the leachate for further leaching of the Landfill without causing an additional burden on the landfill Environment is coming. If necessary, inorganic salts from the leachate, also known per se Way, e.g. B. by ion exchanger or chemical Precipitation, to be removed. To the leaching process too It is beneficial to boost with a large water amount to work, with a partial flow going far of detoxification and then then is returned to the cycle process. Before in some cases, the inorganic ones to be removed Substances subjected to evaporation treatment so that the inorganic substances accumulate as solid residues. As Heat source for such evaporation treatment can the method according to the invention advantageously the Heat is used, which after the high temperature combustion of the gases in a ceramic recuperator was won.
The cleaning of the adsorber resins or polymer resins after their exhaustion, d. H. Saturation with the verunreini organic constituents or substances, can in in a known manner by treatment with suitable Solvents are made as in the aforementioned DE-OS 34 01 867 is described in more detail. The solvents resulting from this treatment concentrates with the contaminating organic matter fen can be disposed of by burning these concentrates will. Another option is this Target pollutants with the addition of nutrient salts biological purification stage and eliminate As already mentioned, the biggest problem is with biodegradation of toxic organic substances in that fluctuating pollutant concentration and what quantities affect the cleaning performance.
These disadvantages are overcome by the ver drive bypassed, advantageously cleaning in enables smaller biological cleaning systems becomes.
In an advantageous embodiment of the Invention according to the method, the sprinkling water is ver urgent or dissolving excipients for some or all the harmful or contaminating components, ins especially for the organic components. Such displacing or dissolving auxiliaries can be surfactants, for example both cationic, anionic, nonionic, ampho tary or zwitterionic substances can be used nen. Who can be determined by simple preliminary tests which of these excipients has the best "washout effect ", i.e. by which substances and by which Amounts of these substances wash out as much as possible effect of the irrigation water occurs.
According to a further preferred embodiment of the The method according to the invention has been found to be advantageous the Be trickle water Oxidizing agent, especially water peroxide, add or air treatment or ozone. This can already during the washout process when the sprinkler passes water to the lower part of the landfill and its Leakage as leachate a cleaning effect or Reinforcing effect with regard to washing out to step.
By further adding nutrient salts, such as. B. nitrates or phosphates as well as microorganisms tap water is possible without much investment biological need To promote self-cleaning of the landfill.
If the interior of the landfill due to high toxicity on A biological activation at the beginning of the washout process Not allowed, can by filling up a bio logically active layer of earth on the landfill surface in this layer of earth the residual COD of the contaminated Leachate is eliminated economically the.
A process scheme is shown in the drawing, which shows the embodiment in which the landfill is covered against the escape of gases and these gases ent be worried.
The landfill is down against the leakage of seepage water sealed, it also has an upper seal against the escape of gases. These gases become a ver combustion supplied, this is followed by a heat exchange in a recuperation. Then you can Exhaust gases aftertreatment to remove stick be subjected to oxides.
The seepage emerging and collected from the landfill water, d. H. the unpurified landfill waters expediently collected in a buffer container so that the treatment regardless of the timing of such Leachate always with a constant flow rate can be done. The leachate from the buffer tank are then in a chemical-physical treatment level treated, it is advantageous here in order to adsorb or absorb the organic harmful components of a polymer resin.
Part of this chemical-physical treatment stage treated water becomes an evaporation stage in one Subjected to evaporators, whereby on the one hand dry sludge, which is disposed of in a manner known per se, and others since pure water accrue. This pure water becomes he new irrigation of the landfill.
Another part of the chemical-physical Treatment level incurred, partially or completely Cleaned from organic, harmful compounds This is fed to a biological treatment stage in order to remaining, not in the chemical-physical treatment stage degraded organic components in this biolo to remove the treatment stage. Also falls here practically pure water, which can be renewed as pure water irrigation of the landfill can be used. A other part of the chemical-physical treatment stage emerging, partially or completely cleaned Water becomes the landfill as purified landfill water guided. To this water to be fed to the landfill Pure water supplied from outside to supplement the demand be added.
Furthermore, it is still possible after the buffer tank unpurified landfill water back to the landfill as Return sprinkling water if the leaching effect with a single passage of the irrigation water the landfill should not be sufficient.
The amount of in the chemical-physical treatment level and biological treatment level supplied water is advantageously regulated so that the supplied to this biological treatment stage The amount of pollutant is regulated in terms of time and quantity is that these remaining harmful substances the biolo processing plant not due to too high a concentration damaging ions.
This also applies to chemical polymer elution physical treatment level resulting pollutants, which are present in higher concentrations can be one such biological treatment stage in terms of time and quantity moderately adjusted supplied and disposed of in this way who the.
The cover over the landfill can also be from soil stand. If the sprinkling water is circulated and already contains dissolved pollutants, they can at least partially when passing through the ground be biodegraded so that the strain a downstream biological treatment stage is less large or such biological treatment can even be omitted.
