Description
Method of making a sleeve for artificial limbs. the for artificial limbs, especially legs, hollow bodies, sleeves or used Stocks made of leather, fiber, wood and the like have the following disadvantages: r. the weight the same falls due to the nature of the fabrics used and then to the reinforcements, which either consist of connections of the same with supporting devices made of metal or of Accumulation of material at the stressed points consist of very different; 2. the sleeve or the shaft has a seam or connection point which the Durability and strength as well as the appearance are impaired.
The object of the invention aims to eliminate these deficiencies. It consists of a process between the sleeves by tensioning a plywood sleeve to produce two fabric sleeves in conjunction with a suitable adhesive.
The veneer sleeve is made from approximately 5 cm wide veneer strips depending on the shape of the model by winding this strip, for example with the help of special ones Winding devices, in such a way that the webs of the wound veneer strips do not overlap, but on the other hand fit together seamlessly, what for example can be made possible by appropriate treatment with adhesive. Then tension one the tissue sheaths through the molded body in such a way that the adhesive, appropriately Cold glue, e.g. B. casein glue, evenly distributed. Then one treats the Stretched fabric covers with water at the appropriate temperature or with water Solutions of alkaline substances of appropriate strength and temperature, whereby a sleeve is obtained with a smooth surface that is formed exactly according to the shaped body. After drying, the sleeve obtained in this way is ready for use. she owns a uniform wall thickness, depending on the stress of 2 to 6 mm, and has also only light weight, as it is, for. B. Sleeves made of other materials for the individual Cases do not exhibit. The wall of these sleeves has no longitudinal seam, which means the required strength increases with the corresponding elasticity and durability will. Sleeves or shafts of this type can be precisely adapted to the amputated stump and without any special reinforcements with the other parts of the artificial limb, e.g. B. a leg, by appropriate fastening devices get connected.
