Mit einem solchen Waschbrett werden beispielsweise vom Fliesenleger die von ihm verlegten Flächen im unmittelbaren Anschluß an die Verlegearbeiten gesäubert. Bei diesem Arbeitsvorgang sollen lediglich die Oberflächen der Fliesen gereinigt, nicht aber die Fugen ausgewaschen werden. Die Schwamm- oder Kunststoffauflage des Waschbretts muß dabei von Zeit zu Zeit gereinigt werden. Dies geschieht bisher mit Hilfe eines sogenannten Waschtrogs und eines auf ihm aufliegenden Gitterrostes, indem das Waschbrett zunächst in den Waschtrog eingetaucht und anschließend auf den Gitterrost aufgesetzt und ausgedrückt wird.
