Description

Process for obtaining fibers from reeds of all kinds, in particular äü§ pond and cattail reeds (Typhaceae). It is known to be made from reeds Obtain fiber for a wide variety of technical purposes. The procedure persists essentially in that the plant is treated with alkaline lyes unlock them. The fiber obtained through the digestion will eventually treated with acids of various kinds, rinsed and dried. The one won in this way However, fiber still shows the drawback that the individual fibers are not completely exposed, but always stick together several fibers, so that from the products thus obtained finer yarns or fabrics cannot be made well. This fact has The reason for this is that when you cook with lye (caustic soda) this is mixed with the in the The glue contained in plants forms a layer which always ensures that glue several fibers together. So far, the size could not be removed without that the fiber has been attacked. If you wanted the size by treating the fiber remove with acid, the fiber would be too strongly attacked by the acid and impaired in their nature.

According to the present invention, the size is now in the manner removed that one treats the digested fibers in a bath, which a contains a diastastic preparation, whereby the size is dissolved so that it can be removed by rinsing the fiber. The fiber is then dried and is suitable for the production of fine yarns and fabrics. It is not here Ruled out that the fiber before treatment with diastastic preparations treated with very dilute acid in such a way that the fibers do not suffer. After the fibers have been rinsed to remove the acid, the treatment is then carried out, as indicated above, with diastastic preparations.

It is a process through the Swiss patent specification 68167 became known, which consists in the fact that the raw fibers of a pretreatment in a dilute alkaline bath followed by treatment with a subject to weakly alkaline enzyme solution. However, this procedure is diastastic with Preparations cannot be carried out because a bath containing the latter contains alkalis must be completely free so that the above-described effect of the diastastic preparations entry. The procedure according to the Swiss patent specification does not lead to that desired goal, is therefore not usable in practice.
