Machine for closing envelopes. They are already machines
zurr closing of envelopes become known in which the flap
of the inclined feed through the machine
envelope moved through only moistened, then in its closed position
is folded over and pressed onto the envelope by a pair of sealing rollers.
The subject matter of the invention differs from these known devices
through this,
that two machine-driven dampening wipers during
the advance movement of the envelope from the center to the sides of the machine
be moved in a straight line so that they are on the sloping edges provided with adhesive
the Ver closing flap slide along, whereupon they after completing their work movement
lifted off the envelope and returned to their starting position in the raised position.
In the drawing, the subject matter of the invention is shown, for example,
namely Fig. i shows a longitudinal section along A-B of Fig. 2, Fig. 2 is a plan view
and Fig.3 a side section according to C-P of Fig. i.
f her.
lassen, was der Qßerschnitt Abb. i erkennen läßt.
dann in bekannter.
The mode of operation is as follows: The tip of the flap of the envelope a, which is provided with glue edges, grips in a known manner through the slot d of the table e and comes to lie under the wiper f. If the crank g is now turned in the indicated arrow direction, the rollers slide c, which are controlled by a spring 1i. are firmly pressed together and by gears i. communicate with each other, place the envelope a under the wipers f. The wipers slide with water pipes k and guides 1, which are set in motion by pins na with the chains? Z and o, which are set in motion by the roller p by means of the engine parts r, q, s, t, zc, v, w Glue on the envelope a. along and, moisten the same through the felt wipers f, f that have seeped through with water x. As can be seen from the cross section of Fig. 3, the guide pieces 1 with the water pipes k drawn in three different stages (], 2, 3) of the moistening process carry and wipers f slots q., in which the already mentioned pins m seated on the water pipes k are moved up and down, while the guide pieces 1 can only be moved horizontally, as can be seen in the cross section Fig. i. By turning the crank ä and moving the engine p, r, q, s, t, u, v, w, the water pipes k with their wipers f, f are forced to move sideways and vertically. The pins m move at the same height from stage i through 2 to the chain wheels t and w. As the two pin-bearing chain links rotate, they pull the two pins guided in the slots 4 into and with them the water pipes h and the wipers f into the Height, so that when it moves towards the longitudinal center of the machine, the remaining part of the moistened envelope that slides underneath is not unnecessarily moistened. Once in the middle, the wipers lower down accordingly and the humidification process begins again. The flap of the envelope, a, hits the sheet metal as it continues to advance, which is held diagonally upwards by springs z. If the flap of the envelope to be folded and glued has reached the sheet y, it is placed around a gate w ', which is attached between the chains 7 and 8, by means of the lever g, so that the flap .mit the moistened glue edges comes to rest on envelope a. The rollers b and c now push the envelope d between the sheet metal y and your table c through into the usual Schlietl rollers p and p1, where the envelopes are then in a familiar. Way to be glued tightly. The rollers p and p1 are driven by the chains; and 8 and the chain wheels 5 and 6 driven. Like the rollers b and c, they are also connected to one another by gears il and are compressed by a spring k1. As soon as the envelope a leaves the rollers p and p1, the sheet metal y folds back into its old position, since the gate releases the lever g.
