Abstract

The invention illustrated in the drawings converts an armchair or a rocking chair into a lounger or a bed of different length. It is thus possible, for example in caravans, to use beds for children and to extend them for adults without changing the design. It is also possible, for example, to convert a sofa with two seat surfaces into a double bed whose length can also be different. It can also be seen from the drawings that an armchair and a lounger or bed can be mobile by attaching wheels or rollers, such as is customary in so-called garden carriages, and that a rocking chair can also be converted into a lounger or bed. This conversion from a rocking chair into a short or long bed is illustrated in the drawing. It can be seen that the segment arcs in the armchair position are connected by joints to frames, which serve as feet, and can be pivoted into the lying position and serve as feet in this position. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to an armchair or a rocking chair in the known dimensions of the seat height and seat depth.

By taking advantage of these dimensions and adding additional components, an armchair or sofa was transformed into a bed.

The use as seating furniture and as a bed is desirable, for example, in small apartments, caravans and in the garden area and is possible thanks to the invention.

It is known to produce foldable seating furniture that can be used for sitting and lying down. All of these constructions are suitable for certain areas of use, but represent makeshift solutions.

It is also known to produce upholstered seating furniture, the seat depth of which can be changed up to the lying surface. These constructions can only be used to a limited extent due to their bulkiness.

The task at hand was therefore to convert a piece of seating furniture, a rocking chair or an upholstered piece of furniture with several seats next to each other into a piece of furniture and vice versa.

The solution to the task is shown in the drawings and shows an overview:

1. A support frame carries the seat, which can slide forward.

2. Three frames are pivotably attached to the support frame, which on the one hand serve as feet and on the other hand are parts of the lying surface.

3. Wheels or castors are attached in such a way that the chair or the lying surface can be moved.

4. The frames, which are pivotably attached to the support frame and serve as chair feet, are connected with two segment arches, creating a rocking chair.

5. The rocking chair also becomes a bed surface, and the segment arches become foot parts on this bed surface.

6. To extend the lying surface, two surfaces that are connected to one another by joints are connected to the armchair backrest and by pivoting the backrest to the lying surface.

The changes from armchair or sofa to bed can be seen in the drawings.

In the drawing, Fig. 1, a frame (2) is pivotably attached to a support frame (1) by a hinge (3). A guide frame (8) is connected to the frame (2) at the pivot point (5).

A seat (7) is connected to the pivot point (9).

The frame (1) (2) (8) and the seat (7) are the same in width, i.e. the support frame (1) carries the frame (2) (8) and the seat (7). The joint part (4) with two pivot points (5) (6) is firmly connected to the frame (2) and at the pivot point (6) to the frame (20). Frame (20) is connected to the guide frame (8) and the seat surface (7) at the pivot point (9). By using the joint part (4) with the pivot points (5) and (6), the frame (20) is guided on the inside of the support frame (1) so far that the pivot point (6) lies below the support frame (1) the frame (20). It can therefore be seen that the frame (2) is connected to the pivot point (6) and the pivot point (9) and that the frame (2) with the guide frame (8) and the seat surface (7) are above the support frame (1) and Frame (20) below the support frame (1). The support frame (1) with the frame (2) (20) (8) and the seat (7) therefore form a fully resilient lying surface in the lying position.

The drawings show that in the armchair position three frames (2) (20) (30) carry the seat surface (7).

Frame (30) is connected to the support frame (1) by a joint (10) and at the pivot point (11) to an armrest (12) which is connected to the frame (2) at the pivot point (5). The frame (30) with the armrest (12) is controlled by the movement of the frame (2) up to a position which excludes an obstruction of the lying surface.

In Fig. 9 it is shown that wheels or rollers (16) can be attached to the frame (2), which make an armchair or a couch mobile.

Drawing Fig. 10 shows that a rocking chair can be changed to a bed or lounger.

The frame (2) is connected to the pivot point (41) and the frame (30) to the pivot point (42) with the segment arch (40) in such a way that the segment arch (40) can be pivoted into a lying position by forming a joint (42 and 43) . The segment arches (40) serve as supports or feet in the lying position.

In Fig. 9 and 10, the movement of the frame (2) and (20) from the sitting position to a lying position is shown. This achieved length is not sufficient for a bed. The lying surface has been changed to the necessary size by means of two lying surfaces (14) and (140), which are connected to one another by joints.

In the drawings, FIGS. 11 to 13, the movements and positions of the frames on the support frame (1) are shown. The backrest (13) consists of two surfaces of the same size, one of which is connected to the seat surface (7) at the pivot point (9). According to FIG. 13, the second surface can be arranged to be adjustable in the lying position.

In Fig. 7 the lying surfaces (14) and (140) are shown, which are folded up in the position according to FIG. 1 and are held together at point (17) by a neck pillow (18) with straps (19).
