Abstract
1. Method for drying sugar-beet pulp in the form of wet or pressed pulp, in which a horizontal conveying device (13) is arranged in a housing (7) for the passage of the pulp (44) which is to be dried, the housing comprises a central rotatable air intake pipe (21) and heated drying air is supplied via openings (23), which extend over the entire length of the drying chamber (41), in the air intake pipe, characterised in that the heated drying air is supplied via axially parallel elongated slots (23), which are arranged side-by-side, in the air intake pipe (21) such that the pulp (44) is moved in a turbulent manner in contact with the air all round, the emerging air being used to a certain extent as rotating blades extending over the entire length of the drying chamber (41) to produce the turbulent movement.
