Abstract

Disposal of C particles contg. harmful impurities is carried out by oxidn., using the following stages: a) stirring of C particles with H2SO4 at room temp. to give a paste or fluid suspension; b) adding the paste or suspension to H2SO4 heated to 150-250 deg.C, with simultaneous introduction of HNO3 below the surface of the HSO4; c) removing the gases and vapours formed and condensing the condensable fraction, the condensate being used for making the paste or suspension without working up further; and d) sepg. the solid residue and recycling the acid to prepn. of the paste or suspension.
