Als solche Füllung eignet sich vorzugsweise Papier, welches leicht in eine Form gebracht werden kann, die dem Tabak ziemlich nahekommt und den Rauch in gleicher Weise ungehindert durchläßt. Wickelt man z. B. sogenanntes Kreppapier in Streifen spiralförmig zu einem Pfropfen auf, in welchem die Riffelungen des Papiers parallel zur Achse verlaufen, so hat man einen Füllkörper, der in der Längsrichtung zahlreiche Durchtrittskanäle für den Rauch besitzt, der aber gleichzeitig zwischen den Lippen kein anderes Gefühl hervorruft, als wenn an seiner Stelle die Hülle mit Tabak gefüllt wäre. Eine solche Zigarette gleicht äußerlich vollständig einer im ganzen mit Tabak gefüllten und ruft auch beim Rauchen keinerlei Unterschiede gegenüber einer solchen hervor.
