Description
The German patent 76578 describes the production of cellulose by action oxidizing gases known on parts of plants. It has now been observed that Chlorine dioxide in water, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and similar solvents Wood acts. A reaction occurs even in the cold, which is caused by heating and possibly can be increased significantly by applying pressure. The cellulose remains spared from the effects of chlorine dioxide and can be such as B. by extracting with caustic soda can be obtained.
unterwerfen.
Als Beispiele seien angegeben:The new process is characterized by the fact that the resulting pulp is of a degree of purity that has not yet been achieved, so that the methoxyl and pentosane content is almost at the limit of what can be analytically detected; therefore it is particularly suitable to subject pulp obtained by other processes to extensive purification.
Examples are:
i. Sawdust is mixed with a multiple amount of saturated, aqueous' chlorine dioxide solution • treated, sucked off, washed out and boiled with sodium hydroxide solution, then washed out again, Treated again with saturated chlorine dioxide solution for a short time and then up to washed out neutral reaction. The resulting pulp is characterized by special Purity.
Technical sulphite pulp is treated with a multiple amount of aqueous, saturated chlorine dioxide solution Treated for a long time at room temperature, then sucked off, washed well and boiled with caustic soda, sucked off again and repeatedly with water boiled out. The resulting, now somewhat yellowish-looking mass is again with chlorine dioxide solution treated and then boiled with water. The pulp obtained is dazzling white.
