Abstract

The invention relates to oral hygiene and prophylaxis of dental and oral disorders. The majority of dental disorders are caused by insufficient oral hygiene. The interdental spaces and the transition between neck of the tooth and gingival border are especially subjected to deposition of plaque. The invention permits improved cleaning of these especially endangered areas, in particular. In contrast to the conventional manual and electrical toothbrushes having comparatively rigid bristles, the cleaning parts of the invention are pressed against the tooth surfaces by centrifugal forces. The cleaning parts are so resilient that even the areas of interdental spaces and transition between neck of the tooth and gingival border, which are difficult to access, can be reached. The centrifugal forces are generated by rotation of the cleaning parts with the aid of a conventional drive. Rotation may be uniform or intermittent, e.g. within a range of plus/minus 30%. Der bei weitem überwiegende Teil der Bevölkerung unterläßt jedoch diese zusätzliche Mundhygienemaßnahme. Die Folge ist, daß nahezu die gesamte Bevölkerung von Zahnfäule (Karies) und Zahnbetterkrankungen (Parodontopathie) befallen ist.
