Resistance material for electrical heating resistors: As a resistance material
for electrical resistances, especially for electrical heating devices, were:
since then exclusively nickel alloys and more recently also such alloys
are used, which do not contain nickel, but mainly made of iron, chromium and
Composed of cobalt and the nickel alloys: outperform in many ways.
Alloys have also been proposed for this purpose which
contain no cobalt and consist essentially only of iron and chromium. These
However, alloys have so far found no use in technology. This lay
probably because the manufacture of these alloys, in particular, was aimed at
Wire; according to the methods customary in technology since then, very great difficulties
offers. The wires would have reached such a high degree that a
Pulling down to the usual diameter is excluded. It. became
now recognized that in the production of the output blocks for wire production
Various circumstances play a role which the nickel alloys do not
or almost not at all. Take high percentage nickel alloys
namely, only relatively small amounts of carbon in the fusible limb
and when using carbonaceous starting materials, e.g. B. Chromium, occurs
The carbon contained therein is not incorporated into the nickel alloy .. Different, however
in the case of the following: high-percentage iron alloys. Stay here
all of the carbon in the finished alloy. As experiments have shown and
also z. B. is known from steel, a few tenths of a percent carbon is sufficient
already to make the material so hard that it is very difficult to process
can be: It has now been recognized that this avoids these difficulties
let us take very low carbon or raw materials. Best for
this purpose is electrolyte iron and carbon-free, especially aluminothermic
Chrome. For the same reason it is also used in the manufacture of the alloys
to pay attention to; that the heating and melting of the measures in a little or no way
no carbon-containing atmosphere is made; particularly useful
this is the melting in a vacuum.
Spiralen daraus wickeln.- yThe chromium content of the wire. Alloys to be machined can be up to
to ¢ 5 percent, but in general a content of about -15 to
25 percent perfectly sufficient. Favorable effect on `the electrical properties,
the resistance and. the temperature coefficient of resistance, has the addition
small amounts of other metals, such as B. manganese, titanium and especially silicon.
Additions of certain other metals in small quantities. such as B. cobalt, nickel,
Copper and aluminum have no particular influence on the behavior of the alloy.
It should also be mentioned. that the alloy easily turns into any desired
shape
can bring. One can. pull them out into wire, roll them into sheets or strips and
Wrap spirals out of it - y
