· Ernst Dörffel in Bernburg i. Anhalt Elastische Kontaktbürste für elektrische Maximalschalter. Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 26. Februar 1919 ab.· Ernst Dörffel in Bernburg i. Anhalt elastic contact brush for electrical maximum switches. Patented in the German Empire on February 26, 1919.
In the case of electrical switches with maximum tripping, the current is generally bridged by means of pressed-on brushes, which consist of several resilient copper plates riveted together. It has been shown that these contact brushes, in spite of the most abundant dimensioning of the cross-sections, get hot at high currents if they are in operation for a few months. The following reasons were generally given as the cause of this phenomenon: In AC operation, the eddy currents that occur, furthermore the wear of the bolts in the drive linkage of the switch, the distortion of the switch itself as a result of its normal heating and as a result of the heating of the connected rails, the chemical influences of the atmosphere, Insufficient cleaning of the contact surfaces and finally the uneven pressure of the various slats. AJIe the points mentioned here are not the cause of its heating if the switch is constructed correctly. It has been shown that switches, which on the test field and immediately after installation showed a normal excess temperature at maximum load, became so hot after several months of operation that the brushes burned. If the eddy currents or the normal heating of the system had been the cause, the brushes would have become hot immediately and not only after a few months. It has also been shown that regular thorough cleaning of the contact surfaces and even pressing of the various brush blades could not prevent the heating. Replacing worn bolts was also unsuccessful. But as soon as the contact brush !! Even if they were replaced by completely new brushes, the switches stayed cold, only to develop too high an excess temperature after a few months. It can be seen from these phenomena that the contact pressure of the brush lamellas must not fall below a certain value and that the elasticity of these copper lamellas decreases sharply over time. This assumption was confirmed by the fact that brushes that had developed too high an excess temperature again showed normal temperature when the individual copper lamellas were bent too towards the contact surface, i.e. when they were pressed against the contact surfaces with the original pressure . So in order to keep a maximum switch permanently operational for very high currents, all brushes have to be removed and the individual copper lamellas bent again at certain time intervals. The idea now seems obvious to introduce a device which permanently prevents the reduction of the contact pressure of the individual lamellae. According to the invention, this is done by inserting very elastic metal springs α between the individual lamellae of the brush. This z. B. made of very thin spring steel or hard brass existing intermediate layers, which can be designed as plates or strips, do not lose their elasticity and press any
The annoying dismantling of the brushes and the re-bending of the individual slats is thereby superfluous. There are probably copper contacts, z. B. on roller switches, known that are pressed against the contact surfaces by an elastic steel spring; such Construction · is not sufficient to solve the above ίο identified task.
