Description

Process for the production of metal and shellac-free luminous cartridges and flares. According to the procedure of the main patent 314868 they are metal and shellac-free Flares manufactured in such a way that finely powdered pitch with barium and Strontium nitrate and barium peroxide with the addition of organic solvents (chloroform, Ethyl acetate, acetone, carbon disulfide, etc.) mixed into a paste, in molds is pressed and dried under relatively strong heating. It was now found through experiments that the currently scarce available and also otherwise relatively expensive solvents mentioned by water have it replaced well. However, it is known to use water to moisten metal and shellac-free luminous kits. These flare packs then contained but dextrin, which formed an adhesive with the addition of water. This resulted then the flares' only binding agent, and this binding was for military ones Purposes utterly inadequate, since such bodies are under the action of the strong The propellant powder charges used to fire them shattered.

In the present invention, the addition of water does only one thing good mixing and enforcement of the sentence with the finely powdered pitch. The latter is then softened during the drying and sharp heating that takes place that by this alone an extraordinarily firm and sufficient one for the purposes mentioned Bond is achieved. However, this method requires that those listed in the main patent Materials Strontium nitrate and barium peroxide by strontium carbonate and potassium chlorate or potassium perchlorate. Otherwise, the same strength In terms of luminosity, even better results were achieved than with the flare of the Main patent.

Example:. 14 parts of pitch of any kind, 7o - barium nitrate, 15 - strontium carbonate, = o - potassium chlorate or potassium perchlorate. The luminous cartridges and luminous balls to be produced from the above flare are produced by the same method and in the same way as in the method of the main patent.

PATENT CLAIM: Modification of the process according to patent 314868 for the production of metal- and shellac-free light cartridges and flares, characterized in that instead of strontium nitrate and barium superoxide here, strontium carbonate and potassium chlorate or potassium perchlorate and instead of the organic solvents previously used, water is used, 'which evaporated on drying, so that the bonding takes place only through the softening of the pitch.
