Derselbe Zweck, den man durch das Gattiren der Erze erreicht, soll nach vorliegender Erfindung dadurch erreicht werden, dafs man die reicheren Erztheile nach der Sortirung in zerkleinertem Zustande mit verdünnter Zuckermelasse befeuchtet, mengt, in beliebige Formen prefst und trocknet. So behandelte Erzmassen können ganz so wie gattirtes Erz auf Metall verarbeitet werden. Will man den Schmelzpunkt der sich bildenden Schlacken hinaufrücken, so verwendet man stärker, will man ihn herabsetzen, weniger concentrirle Melasse. Eine Norm läfst sich nicht aufstellen, da der Concentrationsgrad der Melasse nicht nur von der Natur des zu verarbeitenden Erzes, sondern auch von der Beschaffenheit der Melasse abhängt. Versuche haben festgestellt, dafs sich alle Arten von Zuckermelassen, osmosirte und nicht osmosirte mit Erfolg zu dem bezeichneten Zwecke verwenden lassen. Dasselbe Mittel ist auch ein vorzügliches Bindemittel für Kohlenklein, Kohlenstaub und Sägespäne behufs Herstellung von Stein- und Braunkohlen- oder HoIzbriquettes.
