Zum Verbrennen von Müll und Abfällen ist bereits ein Ofen mit einem hinter dem Feuerungsrost angeordneten Muldenrost bekannt geworden, der so liegt, daß die Flamme des Brennstoffes über und unter diesen hinweggeht. In diesem Rost muß der Abfall zu Asche verbrannt werden, die durch die Rostspalte*n in den Aschenraum fällt. Muldenroste eignen sich jedoch nicht zur Verbrennung von Fäkalien, da diese in so großen Mengen zugeführt werden, daß eine Mulde zur Aufnahme des Stoffes nicht ausreicht, und die Fäkalien ' eine breiige Beschaffenheit haben, so daß die durch die Rostspalten abfließende Flüssigkeit nicht mit durchfallender Asche in Berührung kommen darf. Es soll daher das Gut während des Verbrennungsvorgangs auf dem Rost verbleiben, dabei aber dafür Sorge getragen werden, daß die Dauer einer Beschickung möglichst lange währt. Lange gerade Schrägroste an sich würden dazu auch nicht geeignet sein, weil die Flammen das Gut nicht allseitig bespülen können, und Maßnahmen, um den Fluß des Gutes von außen her etwa mittels jalousieartig gestellter Querstäbe aufzuhalten, um es so zu stauen und zu zerreißen, wie es für Kohlenfeuerungen vorgeschlagen worden ist, sind deswegen nicht geeignet, weil zur Bewegung der Stäbe ein von außen zu bedienendes Gestänge erforderlich ist, so daß der Ofen nicht dicht abgeschlossen ist, eine Forderung, die bei Verbrennungsöfen für Fäkalien unbedingt erforderlich ist.
