Der beim Erhitzen entstehende Druck, der hauptsächlich durch abgespaltene gasförmige Kohlenwasserstoffe bedingt und je nach der Beschaffenheit des verwendeten Öles verschieden hoch ist, kann durch ein sich automatisch betätigendes Sicherheitsventil auf bestimmter Höhe gehalten werden. Die nach der Druckerhitzung abdestillierten, leichter siedenden öle können infolge ihres niedrigen Flammpunktes ohne Zündölzusatz zum Antrieb von Dieselmotoren Verwendung finden.
