Die Einrichtung dieser Pfeife ist folgende:
Ein unten offenes, oben geschlossenes Rohr R aus Messing oder Kupfer reicht bis auf den
niedrigsten Wasserstand. Ein zweites Rohr D n aus Eisen steht mit einer kleinen Dampfpfeife F
in Verbindung und communicirt mit dem Dampfraum des Kessels Ä, Der Zugang zu dieser
Pfeife ist durch ein Ventil V von unten her geschlossen und wird dessen Oeffnung dadurch
bewirkt, dafs man den Theil g herabdrückt. Bei T ist ein Dorn befestigt, welcher den Drehpunkt
eines Hebels H trägt. Dieser Hebel steht bei 1 mit dem Messingrohr R, bei 2 mit
der Druckstange g des Ventils V in Verbindung. Ist nun Druck im Kessel, so steht, falls das
Rohr R bis zum niedrigsten Wasserstand eintauchte, R ganz voll Wasser, was durch Lüftung
der Schraube L vollkommen erreicht wird. Das Rohr hat dann höchstens die Temperatur des
Speisewassers. Man stellt nun mittelst der Muttern m und m\ den Dorn T so, dafs der
Schlufs des Ventils der Pfeife in diesem Zustande bewirkt ist und kein Dampf entweicht;
dann schiebt man die geschlitzte Glocke G über den Dorn, um denselben vor unbefugter Verstellung
zu sichern, und hängt bei D ein Schlöfschen .S ein.The setup of this whistle is as follows:
