Description
AM 12. JANUAR 1920ON JANUARY 12, 1920
It is already known to produce cyanamides in such a way that a mixture of Carbide and alkali chloride glow in a stream of nitrogen. The nitrogen compounds thus obtained contain e.g. B. Anf 25 g of bound nitrogen, 18.7 g of calcium chloride or 12 g Chlorine. To completely convert the 25 g of N into ammonium chloride, however, approx 60 g of chlorine required. When treating such commercially available fertilizer lime nitrogen with water, only the fifth part of the existing nitrogen can be absorbed into Ammonium chloride are converted, so that there is a yield of only 20 percent.
This disadvantage is avoided in the present invention. This is the opposite this in a process for converting the nitrogen compounds of carbides into other more stable nitrogen compounds (ammonium compounds), in which so much Alkali salts or magnesium salts or mixtures of such are added that all or almost all nitrogen can be bound as ammonium salt.
The essence of this innovation is that the implementation with solutions of alkali salts and magnesium salts are made in such a way that the nitrogen compounds of carbides with the solutions of alkali salts or magnesium salts, especially the Chlorides of sodium, potassium or magnesium or mixtures of these, with the addition of water mixes and in this way with or without heating and with or without application electrical. Direct current of other nitrogen compounds with simultaneous formation of other compounds of the salts used, in particular of their carbonates. When the -electric direct current is applied, the reaction is due to the electrolyrical Effect can be easily achieved even in the cold. You work without electrical Electricity, it is advisable to treat the mixture at temperatures above 100 °. In the latter case, about as much water is added as is theoretically necessary for implementation is. In the first case, the process, especially when using electric current, can also be carried out with chloride solutions perform which have water in any excess.
The present process offers the advantage that, for example, when working with calcium cyanamide and sodium chloride or potassium chloride, ammonium chloride in salt form is sublimated directly and at the same time soda or potash is obtained when the reaction mixture is strongly heated. In höherei 1 temperature can also be obtained directly ammonia and simultaneously soda or potash, whereas the chlorine of the ammonium chloride goes to the calcium and Ca Cl forms. 2
Versuche mit den Chloriden allein, ferner mit Karnallit,The reaction itself is already possible with chlorides of sodium, potassium and magnesium take place at ordinary temperature and is accelerated by the supply of heat; the the same applies to their sulfates. Experiments with the chlorides alone, furthermore with carnallite,
