Zur Verstärkung des Sielenknastes am Sielen geschirr wird gewöhnlich Leder benutzt, das durch Zusammennähen mit Zwirn und Lederstreifen verbunden wird. Es ist jedoch allgemein bekannt, daß der eiserne Sielenknastring teils infolge der Abnutzung, teils durch Rostbildung auf das Leder zerstörend einwirkt.
