Description
The subject of the present patent forms a method for the concentration of Nitric acid by distilling dilute nitric acid in the presence of dehydrating Means.
The concentration of nitric acid by distilling dilute acid with water withdrawing agents has become known in the most varied of embodiments.
Schließlich sind auch wasserbindende Salze, wie Calciumnitrat, in den Kreis der Versuche gezogen worden.ίο One has sulfuric acid for these purposes, Phosphoric acid, arsenic acid, the latter also in the form of their pyro or meta compounds, suggested. Instead of sulfuric acid, there are also strongly acidic salts (polysulphates) considered suitable. Finally, water-binding salts such as calcium nitrate are also in the circle of experiments has been drawn.
In one direction or another, all of these proposals are undesirable had technical consequences. In some cases, losses are caused by the decomposition of nitric acid, in some cases, as with the salts containing water of crystallization, the achievable concentration is not sufficient. The most widely used concentration agent for economic reasons, namely Concentrated sulfuric acid was only able to do this under certain operating conditions be used because the regeneration of the used to concentrate Sulfuric acid is only available in a sulfuric acid factory and the one connected to it extensive and expensive apparatus could happen, since the sulfuric acid of certain Concentration degrees evaporated and, as a result, all sorts of inconveniences when expelling the exempted water which can only be overcome in a sulfuric acid factory. Together all according to this principle Working .Konzentrationsverfahren was that the concentration agent in with water in a diluted state, so that the concentration agent can be recovered a re-concentration of the same became necessary.
The inventor has now set himself the task of distilling the dilute nitric acid with water-removing agents so that after the abortion all Nitric acid the concentration agent remains in the original concentration, so. that the process can easily be done by adding dilute nitric acid again can be repeated or continued.
This is achieved by the fact that the concentration means in a from the outset such a concentration is applied that after the expulsion of the concentrated Nitric acid is the concentration agent, e.g. B. the sulfuric acid, compared to its original Concentration still contains nitric acid with so much water that the mixture one that can be distilled by itself results in dilute nitric acid and so in the further distillation all of the retained Water of the original dilute nitric acid with the still retained
' ■tenen nitric acid is distilled off and the concentration agent 'remains in the apparatus in its original strength. '■
So while with the previous methods that with the concentration from the process Water to be removed from the ■ concentration agent is diluted according to the present Method removes this water in the form of more dilute nitric acid. It will ίο thus under all circumstances the operation spared the re-concentration of the concentration agent, an operation that on the one hand is costly and time-consuming, and on the other hand, its elimination is the immediate repetition of the process in the same apparatus.
The achievement of the state of the concentration agent, namely that it is after abortion the concentrated nitric acid only with a mixture that can be distilled on its own Diluted by nitric acid and water depends on the choice of the original Concentration of the concentration agent. . This original concentration can be realized after one has recognized the technical rule can easily be calculated from the vapor tension ratios. Chooses accordingly, the original concentration of the concentration agent and the Mixing ratio between this and the nitric acid to be concentrated, so results in the distillation after aborting the concentrated nitric acid a diluted one Nitric acid, which carries all the water to be removed from the process and leaves the concentrator in its original strength for reuse.
For sulfuric acid, this concentration is around 82 to 86 percent. The procedure should be explained in the following using an example:
1000 Teile 52prozentige Salpetersäure = 520 Teile H NO3 destilliert mit 3000 Teilen 83prozentige Schwefelsäure ergeben 515 Teile 92,o5prozentige Salpetersäure = 474 Teile H NO3 und 484 Teile o,,3prozentige Salpetersäure = 45 Teile HNO3.1000 parts of 52 percent nitric acid = 520 parts of H NO 3 distilled with 3000 parts of 83 percent sulfuric acid give 515 parts of 92, 0.5 percent nitric acid = 474 parts of H NO 3 and 484 parts of 3 percent nitric acid = 45 parts of HNO 3 .
A sulfuric acid remains in the apparatus, the concentration of which is always between 83 and 84 percent fluctuates. The yield of nitric acid is therefore 99.8 percent.
However, such a method has a significant technical advantage over the previous procedures. It has already been mentioned above that the procedure entails an operation, namely, the re-concentration of the dehydrating agent is spared. The process also has the technical effect, which should not be underestimated, that it in. iron vessels are carried out can. It is well known that mixtures take effect; from sulfuric acid and nitric acid the iron less on. as. the individual acids. The registered procedure is in Apparatus. initially an 82 to 86 percent sulfuric acid. This is what iron grasps at all not on. Right up to the end: this sulfuric acid is never part of the entire distillation process diluted with water alone, but always together with nitric acid, until it finally regains the concentration of 82 up to 86 percent. This and the cessation of re-concentration results furthermore the great convenience of always working in the same vessel without changing location can.
9^It has already been proposed to carry out the entire concentration of nitric acid in one vessel, namely by first performing a pre-concentration and then post-concentration with the same sulfuric acid, whereupon the sulfuric acid remains as about oil percent sulfuric acid. In this case, however, it is diluted with water alone, so it cannot be treated in iron vessels, and in order to be reintroduced into the process it must be concentrated again in a separate operation, which interrupts the concentration process of the nitric acid . In contrast, in the case of the subject matter of the invention, after the last nitric acid has been aborted, one can start again immediately with the addition of dilute sainitic acid. 9 ^
The one that is omitted in the process as a carrier of the water content of the original nitric acid thin nitric acid is very suitable as an absorption acid, and otherwise offers their concentration in the column also posed no major difficulties.
