Abstract

The motor has a piston and cylinder carrying out two working stages at the same time, that is, driving and compressing. The cylinder of the motor houses a piston with its rod projecting from one end, carrying a spring around it, and used to guide the cylinder as it reciprocates. The supply and return of the vapour, e.g. steam, to the cylinder is controlled by slide valves, and the cylinder incorporates two relief valves operating in different directions.
