Dieser neue Mefs-Apparat beseitigt das uncorrecte Messen von Hand, welches durch einen einfachen Papierstreifen geschieht oder durch einen Winkel, mit welchem man, nachdem der Fufs zum Messen frei gehoben wurde, die Länge abnimmt.This new Mefs device eliminates the uncorrect measuring by hand, which is caused by a simple paper strip happens or through an angle, with which one after the Fufs was lifted freely for measuring, the length decreases.

α ist ein Brett, auf welches man den Fufs zum Abmessen stellt und auf welchem der Mechanismus angebracht ist. Derselbe hat an den äufseren vier Ecken runde Füfschen a1. In der Mitte des Brettes ist der Länge nach eine Schiene b angebracht, welche durch zwei Lager b ' an beiden Enden vermittelst Holzschräubchen gehalten wird. Auf dieser Schiene sitzen zwei Gleitstücke c und ci, zwischen welchen der Fufs zum Messen eingeklemmt wird. Es ist hierbei besonders zu beachten, dafs der Fufs fest auf das Tischchen α aufgestellt werde und sich infolge dessen in seine natürliche Länge dehnen kann. Das Gleitstück cl wird nach der ungefähren Gröfse des Fufses mit der Hand gestellt. An dem anderen Gleitstück c ist vermittelst eines Bolzens eine Feder d befestigt. Letztere sitzt in ihrer dreieckigen Form an den beiden anderen Ecken an dem Tischchen α fest. e ist ein Draht, welcher an einem Ende an dem Gleitstück c befestigt und am anderen Ende einen Griff zum Ziehen hat. Ist das Gleitstück ci nach der ungefähren Gröfse des Fufses hingeschoben, so wird der Fufs zwischen beide Gleitstücke auf dem Tischchen fest aufgestellt. Das andere Gleitstück c wird mit der Hand durch den Griff zurückgezogen, die Feder d wird dadurch gespannt und klemmt, nachdem man losgelassen hat, den Fufs ein, f ist ein Maafsstab, welcher am Gleitstück c befestigt ist und sich auf dem Gleitstück cl führt. Diese Führung dient zugleich als Zeiger g für den Maafsstab und giebt die genaue Länge des Fufses an. α is a board on which you place the foot for measuring and on which the mechanism is attached.
