Abstract

The main, or upper, casing (2) of the telephone subscriber appts. has four lugs (7) projecting vertically downwards. These are part of the casing moulding which is of a material allowing some elastic deformation. Each lug has an opening (8) in its vertical faces. The base (1) is moulded with slots or pockets (3) corresp. to the lug positions. One side of the pocket has a hooked projection (4) which engages with the opening in the lug. To assemble the casing over the instrument and base it is lowered vertically downwards. Pressure is applied such that the lugs bend sideways over the projections and then snap into position locking the casing and base together. Assembly is simple and quick requiring no tools or fixing screws. As the casing does not hinge on the base the placing of components is not constrained by the arc through which the casing would have to move.
