Description
The invention relates to a method for firing barrel weapons, in particular steep-angle firearms, under Use of a liquid two-component system consisting of fuel and oxidizer as propellant charge.
Such guns are usually fired by means of solid charges. Is such a barrel weapon for example a mortar, mounted on an armored vehicle, it is generally not possible, the distance by varying the Rohrwin = set kels. Rather, this happens with a fixed, but also with an adjustable pipe angle by changing the load by attaching up to eight additional loads to the projectile, depending on the distance. There this variation is only possible in discrete steps, the accuracy leaves something to be desired. Furthermore is disadvantageous that the additional cargo must be housed inside the vehicle and in the event of fire pose a significant risk to the vehicle and crew. In addition, such claim Space for additional loads in the vehicle.
Da sich eine Flüssigkeit sehr genau dosieren läßt, istTo improve accuracy, it is known (DE-OS 22 17 728) as a propellant a liquid charge to use, which are ignited by a pyrotechnic propellant charge detonator on the floor of the projectile. Since a liquid can be dosed very precisely, is
If, as here, a liquid one-component system, which thus combines fuel and oxidizer, is used, it must inevitably be very pressure-sensitive with the proposed type of ignition in order to ignite at all. However, the high pressure sensitivity makes handling more difficult, in particular there is the risk of untimely ignition, e.g. by valve beating or the like in the conduction system. These liquid one-component systems are therefore not suitable for practical use with hypergoler, i.e. 1
Auch ist ein gesteuertes und sicheres Anzünden solcher hypergoler Flüssigkeiten schwierig.• Self-igniting or quick-igniting property known, for example, in addition to an oxidizer as fuel hydrazine or its derivatives. In this process, the two components of the mixture stored separately and only brought together in the hold immediately before firing there is no longer any risk of the liquid charge reacting by an unintentional increase in pressure, but are the fuels that can be used for such self-igniting mixtures, e.g. B. said hydrazine, very toxic and therefore unsuitable for practical use in guns. Also is a controlled and It is difficult to safely ignite such hypergolic liquids.
The invention therefore has the object of developing the method of the type mentioned in such a way that using the ballistic advantages of the liquid propellant safe handling of the Propellant is possible with reliable ignition.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a late or non-self-igniting two-component system is used and the ignition by one or more of the on the projectile or by im Solid propellant charges, which are arranged in a conventional manner and are arranged in the cargo space, take place.
The invention thus firstly includes the proposal instead of fast or self-igniting liquid Two-component systems with a necessarily highly toxic component, systems with fuels to be used in which the mixture has a relatively large ignition delay, as Fuels quite conventional fuels, preferably kerosene or gasoline, are possible, to which an oxidizer is added. In order to reliably ignite such a mixture, the further one goes Proposal of the invention to ignite those already present on the storey or arranged in the hold to use solid propellant charges. The resulting temperature and that of the reaction The energy released by the propellant charge is sufficient to reliably ignite the liquid two-component mixture. The handling of the fuels mentioned is harmless and otherwise familiar. The dosage of the two components is easily possible with conventional equipment, so that a continuous Can achieve coverage coverage.
Preferred embodiments of the invention provide that the two-component system alone the already ignited additional charge of the projectile or ignited by the already ignited first charge will.
The invention is used particularly advantageously in guns mounted on a vehicle because the fuel used to drive the vehicle's engine is used as fuel can, which is supplied for example from a tank of the vehicle. Instead, it can also be used as fuel Another liquid hydrocarbon can be used, in particular kerosene or gasoline in question come.
Als Oxidator wird bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Ver- is fahren vorzugsweise Salpetersäure verwendetIn the process according to the invention, nitric acid is preferably used as the oxidizer
To save space in a vehicle can be provided be that the oxidizer is supplied from a tank located outside the vehicle. Further preferred refinements of the method according to the invention are provided for. that fuel and oxidizer in mixed in a premixing chamber and then introduced into the hold as a mixture, or that fuel and oxidizer are introduced separately into the hold and only mixed there. The two liquids are extremely fine and can be dosed precisely because the liquids enter the hold under high pressure are injected, the quantities and the ignition time being electronically processed by a computer can be determined.
Eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens läßt sich folgendermaßen beschreiben:A preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention can be described as follows:
After a projectile mk of a -i / ig-attached additional charge was introduced into the weapon, this charge is ignited in a conventional manner. Essentially at the same time - in the msec range - the two Liquids, on the one hand the fuel, namely here 15 g kerosene and on the other hand the oxygen carrier, here 61 g nitric acid, in the hold and there in the already developing flame of the cargo below simultaneous formation of the mixture injected. This is caused by the ignited charge of the projectile lit and reacted. The thermal efficiency of the reaction is around 30%. The projectile reaches a projectile speed of about 830 m / sec in this special embodiment. The method according to the invention can be implemented in a particularly simple manner in the case of high-angle firearms, since there practically no sealing problems occur.
