wine glass
The invention relates to a wine glass according to the preamble of claim 1.
In gastronomy, glasses are known as wine cups, which are occasionally used in particular when tasting fine wines in wine cellars. Such cups - called "Le Taster" - first became known in France. Such glasses have no stem, a flat base and taper at the top so that the opening is only about half the diameter of the base. The base has a central indentation that extends into the interior of the cup.
At about a third of the height there is an outer indentation, which is directed radially inwards. When tasting, you hold this cup with your middle finger and thumb and make swinging movements with it. In the partially filled cup, the wine is moved, particularly at the side indentation, in such a way that turbulence is created and that there is a strong mixing with the air at these "flow breakers". The result is that the taster notices a clearly pronounced change in the taste of the wine compared to a wine served in a "classic" wine glass. This cup-like glass was not able to gain acceptance in professional circles because the changes in taste were so strong that they were perceived as taste impairments. Moreover, the shape of these glasses is not suitable for use in top restaurants.

Furthermore, "elegant" wine glasses with a goblet-like top with a stem tapering downwards and a base are known, with the stem being partially hollow in the upper area. This type of stem design has no effect on the taste of the wine and only serves an aesthetic effect.
The invention is based on the object of designing a wine glass in such a way that, on the one hand, a taste nuance is achieved that is perceived as pleasant and, on the other hand, that high aesthetic demands are met.
This task is solved by the feature in the characterizing part of claim 1. Surprisingly, it has been shown that the design according to the invention achieves a gentle and thus positively perceived nuance of the taste of the wine when the glass is swirled. An optimization of this nuance of taste is achieved by the advantageous further developments according to the subclaims, in particular by the geometric design of the elevation.
Further features, advantages and details of the invention emerge from the following description of an embodiment based on the drawing, which shows a wine glass in a central longitudinal section.
Diese Erhebung 5 ist kegelartig ausgebildet, weist jedoch eine leicht nach innenThe wine glass shown in the drawing has a goblet-like upper part 1 with a base area 2 and a downwardly extending stem 3 that ends in a foot 4. From the base area 2, a protrusion 5 extends upwards into the interior 6 of the upper part 1. This protrusion 5 is conical, but has a slightly inward

The tip area of the elevation 5 is closed off by an approximately hemispherical dome 8, which smoothly merges into the surface area 7. The elevation 5 is hollow.
The stem 3 is hollow in its area 9 that adjoins the base area 2 so that the elevation 5 and this area 9 together have the shape of a double cone with gently inwardly curved surfaces. As can be seen from the drawing, the elevation 5 in the base area 2 continues over this in a continuous curve into the wall 10 of the upper part 1. In the base area 2, i.e. at the transition of the elevation 5 into the wall 10 of the upper part 1, and at the same time at the transition of the area 9 of the stem 3 into the wall 10, the base area 2 has a diameter d for which, in comparison to the largest diameter D of the upper part 1, the following applies: 3 < D / d < 5.
Schließlich gilt für die Höhe hi der Erhebung 5 im Vergleich zur Höhe I12 des Bereichs 9 des Stiels 3: 1 < h2 / ^ < 1,5.Furthermore, the following applies to the height Ir 1 of the elevation 5 above the base area 2 in comparison to the total height H of the upper part 1: 3 < H / hi < 5. Finally, the following applies to the height hi of the elevation 5 in comparison to the height I12 of the area 9 of the stem 3: 1 < h 2 / ^ < 1.5.
The geometry described ensures that when the wine glass is swirled, which is only filled with wine in the lower part of the upper part 1, the wine is mixed with air in a particularly gentle manner, without causing harmful turbulence or eddies that would lead to a negatively perceived change in taste. The best effects in terms of taste nuance are achieved through the height ratio of the elevation 5 to the upper part 1.
-A--A-
10Because the area 9 of the stem 3 and the raised part 5 are hollow throughout, i.e. without a partition, there is only a small amount of glass in this area, which would lead to a change in the temperature of the wine if the temperature differed from the temperature of the wine. Furthermore, this hollow area has an insulating effect, so that no significant heat flow with a corresponding change in the temperature of the wine takes place. This insulating effect of the wine glass in this area has a positive effect on the taste of the wine remaining the same over a longer period of time. 10
As the drawing shows, the entire wine glass is rotationally symmetrical around a central longitudinal axis 11.
