Although it is not necessary to use these parts in the sense of the invention, they are still useful to prevent the garment from creasing, for example in the case of particularly delicate textiles.

1. Role (1.0.)

Material:

As is known in technology, it is made of hard cardboard or plastic. This compressive strength gives the garment its basic stability.

According to the invention, it is covered all around with a layer of interlining (tailor's padding). Lining material (light, smooth, durable material) is glued onto this. This padding serves to absorb light pressure.

Shape:

The diameter (= hollow space) of the roll (i» 1/10 of the length) should be balanced so that it is not too small so that a) the garment remains smooth and b) fits well in the hand for rolling up.

The hollow space of the roll (2 closure caps) is to be used:

- for storing accessories

The length of the roll corresponds to the width of the garment (min. 60 cm).

1.1. Fabric panel/ long (1.1.)

The first piece of fabric is sewn on anywhere on the roll, along the entire length of the roll. This means that the width of the piece of fabric corresponds to the length of the roll. The length of the piece of fabric must be such that it is about a third longer than the blouse/shirt.

Special feature:

In order to be able to pack with (any) coat hanger, there is a slit in the middle of the upper free end of the fabric panel, about a third of the way along. The coat hanger can protrude through this slit and later be hung up outside the suitcase, i.e. together with the roll.

Material:

Lining fabric ¹ does not pill, is smooth and light, but still offers sufficient strength and is thin.

Fasteners (snap fasteners, Velcro) are attached to the "inside" and "outside" of the fabric. When the garment is rolled up, the roll is closed with them. (8, 9)

Additional part to this fabric = its extension:

To pack longer items of clothing, e.g. trousers, an additional piece of fabric can be attached using Velcro patches.

This additional part of the fabric, long, has two different fastening options in the middle in addition to the snap fasteners on the sides:

a) for closing and better hold after the trousers have been rolled up, a Velcro fastener

b) a strap with eyelets through which the hook of a coat hanger can be pushed. This enables the package (= the device with the rolled-up garment) to be hung up with the coat hanger.

1.2. Fabric panel, short (1.2.)

It is attached to the same line as the long piece of fabric.

It is slightly bent at the free end.

It also prevents creasing and acts as a support between the roll and the garment. It can also be attached loosely if you don't want to use it.

The garment is only loosely placed between the two pieces of fabric. It is held in place by rolling it up and closing it at the end.

Both parts are identical. The only difference is that they are placed on the blouse/shirt upside down. To make it easier to place the parts correctly, the corresponding corners are labeled: "collar right" or on the other padding part "collar left"

Material:

Interlining, glued on both sides with lining fabric (color slightly different in tone from the fabric panels and roll).

Special feature: The fleece is cut to a generous size and is not sewn on the sides, so that it can easily be cut smaller with scissors. Since the fabric sticks firmly, it hardly frays.

A flat cushion part for

It has dimensions that roughly correspond to a pair of trousers lying on a surface.

It can be placed one or more times in the waistband up to the crotch as a padding. This way it lines the upper part of the trousers from the inside. The rest is simply placed over the trousers.

It is intended to pad the collar from the inside and keep it in shape, especially the collar tips. For this purpose it is padded in varying thicknesses. The sides are sewn all around.

APPENDIX for description

Example A) ( 4 )

Rolling up a shirt/blouse (without extension) here with a coat hanger.

1. Handle

The long piece of fabric (1.1.) is laid out flat (without the extension piece). The item of clothing is then spread out on it, with the "face" facing upwards. The clothes hanger is placed opposite the roll, across the slit.

The following steps marked with *) can be omitted as they involve additional padding, with the purpose of keeping the sleeves, collar and waistband area smooth in particular.

2. Handle *)

The collar pad is conveniently stored in the hollow space of the roll and only removed when needed. It is shaped between the coat hanger and the collar so that the two ends lie under the collar tips inside the shirt. (2, 4)

3. Handle *)

The two identical pads according to claim 2 are placed in an adjustment to the shirt to be packaged, as follows: (3a, 3b, 4)

a) The first piece of padding, e.g. with the label "collar right", is placed so that this corner is under the right collar; then the right sleeve is folded forwards (normally arms are folded back) together with the padding. In the crook of the arm, the padding is also turned 180°; thus the critical fold at the crook of the arm is doubly padded, as is the entire sleeve.

b) With the second pad and the left sleeve, proceed as under a).

If the padding is still sticking out at the bottom, it can be folded over and used for additional padding, e.g. for cuffs.

4. Handle

A short length of fabric according to claim 1.2 is placed over it. (1.2.)

5. Handle

The garment is rolled up over the roll.

The end of the fabric is fastened at the side with snap fasteners and the packing process is complete. The package can be placed in the suitcase.

Example with coat hanger:

It is rolled as far as the handlebar allows.

The coat hanger is passed through the central slot, with the collar placed where it is best to see it. Fasten with snap fasteners on the side. This means that the package can also be hung on the hanger outside the suitcase without having to unroll it.

Hand grip, recommended *) When you start rolling, roll the garment a little with one hand and pull on the hanger with the other hand: the blouse/shirt will be smoothed out once again.

The trouser padding according to claim 3 is pushed into the waistband up to the crotch once or several times for padding or is placed between the trouser legs as a pad. When not in use, it is stored in the hollow of the roll. (5, 5.1.)

The invention stated in the patent claim is based on the problem that, as is well known, items of clothing, when folded and transported in a suitcase or similar, are taken out wrinkled, crumpled and squashed. Ironing the clothing should be avoided.

This problem, which is known to everyone, is solved by the method and principle of rolling with the aid of the device of the roller according to patent claims 1 - 4.

The advantages achieved with the invention are that the roll and its fabric panels as well as its flexible upholstery accessories prevent creases and require little or no ironing.

Advantage of the roll: no folding

Advantage of their fabric panels: - Shape is maintained

- no slipping

- Protection against contamination.

The combination of these two advantages offers:

1. When packed in this way, the garment does not slip or wrinkle, even if it is turned 90° in two different directions, e.g. in a trolley case.

2. Outside the case, the packaging can be placed vertically to save space.

Aside from that:

The device is simple and easy to use. Rolling it up is basically easier than folding it up.

Handling is quick:

A comparison:

Normal folding of a shirt: 1-2 more steps are required than when handling with the invention (without using padding).

In the sense of the invention, the device is intended for a single item of clothing. However, several items of clothing can also be rolled/packed at the same time if their fabrics are not particularly sensitive to creases.

The simplicity of this device and the process certainly also allows it to serve as a basis for machine packaging.
