Strike plate

The innovation relates to a striking plate according to protection claim 1 or 16.

Strike plates of this type are well known. The end pieces, which are preferably made of plastic, serve in particular as a visual finish, but also prevent foreign bodies from penetrating under the plate formed by the U-profile, which is attached to a frame, for example.

The aim of the innovation is to show a locking plate in which at least one end piece is held as reliably as possible at the respective end of the plate. To solve this problem, a locking plate is designed in accordance with protection claim 1 or 16.

In a first embodiment of the innovation, the end piece is made in two parts, i.e. it consists of a first part, which forms the fastening section and over which the respective end of the panel protrudes by a certain length. The second part, which forms the actual end, is then placed on this protruding length and secured by clipping or locking it in place. This two-part design allows for particularly simple production, in particular in the form that one and the same end piece can be used at both ends of the panel. Furthermore, this design has the advantage of being universally usable and also the advantage that, with the same first part in terms of color and/or shape, different second parts can be used. This means that a large variety is possible with reduced stock levels in order to take into account a wide range of customer requirements.

Further developments of the innovation are the subject of the subclaims. The innovation is explained in more detail below using the figures and exemplary embodiments. They show:

The striking plate, generally designated 1 in Figures 1 - 5, is intended in a manner known per se for use with a lock (not shown) of an interior or exterior door of a building and is attached to a frame of the door (also not shown). In detail, the striking plate consists of a plate 2, which is formed from a length of a flat U-profile made of metal, preferably steel, and accordingly has two legs 3 of low height extending in the longitudinal direction of the striking plate 1 and a plate-shaped yoke section 4 connecting these legs 3 to one another. Four fastening openings 5 are provided in the yoke section 4, namely two fastening openings 5 at each narrow plate end 2' symmetrically to a central axis M forming the longitudinal axis of the plate 2. In the middle area of the plate 2 there is a rectangular strike plate opening 6, the longitudinal extent of which is parallel to the central axis M, but is offset from the central axis M in such a way that the opening 6 is closer to one long side of the plate 2 than to the other long side. In the area of this opening 6 there is a cover 7 on the front side of the plate 2 facing away from the legs 3 and the housing 8 on the back side of the plate 2 facing the legs 3, which keeps the strike plate opening 6 free even when the strike plate 1 is installed.

The strike plate 1 is attached to the stock frame (not shown) using screws (not shown) that pass through the fastening openings in such a way that it rests against the stock frame with the legs (3) provided on the rear.

In order to visually close off the U-shaped plate 2 at the two narrow sides or plate ends 2' running perpendicular to the legs 3, an end piece 9 is provided at each plate end. For the sake of simplicity, only one end piece 9 is shown in Figures 1 and 2 at the upper plate end 2' in these figures. A similar end piece 9 is actually also provided at the lower plate end 2'.

The end piece 9 is made up of two parts, namely the two parts and 11, which are each manufactured as injection-molded parts from a suitable, particularly impact-resistant plastic.

One part 10 is designed in the form of a plate with a slightly rectangular circumference, with the two parallel longer circumference sides 10' and the two shorter circumference sides 10" running at right angles to them. The part 10 also has a thickness that is equal to or slightly smaller than the distance between the free edges of the legs 3 and the side of the yoke section 4 facing these legs.

The part 10 is designed symmetrically to its central axis m, which is parallel to the sides 10', as well as symmetrically to the transverse axis q, which is parallel to the sides 10", and has two holes 12, which intersect the transverse axis q with their axis, each have the same distance from the central axis m and continue on the top side 13 of the part 10 in a sleeve-like projection 14, which protrudes over the top side 13 and forms an annular groove or undercut 15 on its circumference. The outer diameter of each projection 14, which is slightly bevelled outwards at the upper edge at 14', is slightly larger than the diameter of the opening 5. The axial distance of the two holes 12 and the projections 14 is equal to the axial distance of the openings 5. Furthermore, the distance between the two sides 10' is equal to or slightly smaller than the distance between the legs 3, so that the part 10 can be separated from the underside of the plate 2 can be fastened by snapping the projections 14 into the two openings 5. The edge of the openings 5 engages in the undercut 15. The underside 16 of the part 10 facing away from the projections 14 is approximately level with the free edge of the legs 3 and the part 10 is arranged with its central axis m coaxial with the central axis M and protrudes with one of the two sides 10" over the relevant end 2' of the plate 2.

Groove-like recesses 17 are formed on the two sides 10' in the area of the four corners of the plate-shaped part 10, which are each open towards the relevant side 10' and towards the underside 16. Each recess 17 is closed towards the top side 13 and forms a catch 18 there.

The part 11 forms a closing piece or a closing strip and has a substantially bow-like shape, i.e. it consists of an elongated section 19, which merges into a short leg 20 at both ends. The two legs 20, which protrude beyond a common side of the section 19, are spaced apart from one another by the same or approximately the same distance as the sides 10'. On their sides facing one another, the legs 20 are each provided with a locking tooth 21, in such a way that the part

can be placed on the end of a part 10 protruding beyond the plate end 2' from the top of the striking plate 1, in such a way that the section 19 lies with its longitudinal extension perpendicular to the central axis M, with one long side it adjoins the plate end 2' as closely as possible, with its two legs 20 it engages over the protruding end of the part 10 on the two sides 10' and with the locking teeth 21 it engages behind a locking 18 so that the part 11 is held on the part 10 and thus on the striking plate 1 as an actual, optical closing element. The part 11 is shaped in particular in such a way that it completely covers the end of the part 10 protruding beyond the plate end 2' and, when mounted on the striking plate 1, also extends over the entire width of this striking plate. Furthermore, the part 11 is designed to be as flat as possible on its surfaces adjacent to the plate end 2' in the assembled state in order to ensure that the part 11 is tightly connected to the strike plate 2, while otherwise the edges and sometimes also the surfaces of the part 11 are designed to match the desired optical appearance, for example rounded etc.

Because the part 10 is designed symmetrically to the axes m and q and, in particular, also has four catches 18, when clipping this part onto the plate 2, only the engagement of the projections 14 in the openings 5 needs to be ensured, but not that a specific one of the two sides 10" protrudes beyond the plate end 2'.

The fastening screws for the strike plate 1 also extend through the holes 12 of the end pieces 9 used, so that after assembly the projections 14 used for the clip fastening of the end pieces 9 are covered by the heads of the screws used and are no longer visible. The end pieces 9 and in particular the parts 11 can be designed in different colors. In particular, it is possible to use parts 11 with different colors and/or shapes for the same parts 10, for example to reduce storage costs.

The openings 5 are each provided on a funnel- or spout-like area 5' that protrudes beyond the inside of the yoke section 4 and is produced by pulling or pushing the material of the plate 2 inwards. The areas are received in ring-shaped recesses 13' that are provided on the top 13 of the part 10 and each enclose a projection 14.

In principle, it is possible for the plate-shaped part 10 to be profiled on the underside 16 or to have at least one section or projection or partial section with which the part 10 protrudes beyond the free edge of the legs 3 after being fastened to the plate 2 and which can be inserted into a recess or groove in the frame when the striking plate 1 is mounted, so that this projection or protruding partial section provides additional anchoring of the striking plate 1 to the frame over a large area.

Furthermore, it is possible that the part 11, as indicated in Figure 4 with broken lines at 11', is designed like a hood in such a way that after being placed on the part 10, it also completely covers the side 10" there. This design has the further advantage that after the part 11 has been placed on the side 10" of the part 10 protruding over the plate 2 is not visible, so in particular a different color of the part 10 from the part 11 is not noticeable, as well as the advantage that there is also no visible joint between the parts 10 and 11.

Figures 6-10 show a locking plate 1a which, instead of end pieces 9, has end pieces 9a which are again made in two parts, i.e. consisting of parts 10a and 11. Basically, end piece 9a differs from end piece 9 only in that the plate-shaped part 10a is designed differently from part 10 in the manner described in more detail below. In figures 6-10, the same reference numbers as in figures 1-5 are used for those elements and parts which correspond in function and shape to the elements or parts in figures 1-5.

The projections 14 are omitted from part 10a and instead of them two hollow pin-like projections 22 are formed which protrude over the top 13 and which lie with their axes on a line parallel to the side 10a', whereby this line also intersects the axis of one of the two holes 12. Holes 23 are provided on the plate 2a of the locking plate 1a in the yoke section 4, namely to fit the projections 22 and in pairs at an opening 5a at each end of the plate. Furthermore, the two openings 5a adjacent to the holes 23 are provided on the long side of the plate 2a to which the opening 6 is also closer. The plate-shaped part 10a can in turn be placed from the back of the plate 2a on the relevant plate end 2a', in such a way that the two projections 22 engage in the holes 23 there and the relevant end piece 9a is thereby secured to the strike plate 1a at least until this is mounted with the fastening screws on the frame etc. and the end pieces 9a are then finally fastened with the fastening screws passing through the holes 12.

The openings 5a are formed by countersunk holes in the strike plate 1a.

The part 10a is designed to be mirror-symmetrical to the transverse axis q with respect to the arrangement and design of the projections 22, otherwise symmetrical to both this transverse axis q and the central axis m. This design allows the same part 10a to be used at both ends of the striking plate 1a.

Figures 11-17 show a striking plate 1b, which differs significantly from the striking plates 1 and 1a in terms of the design and type of fixing of the end pieces. The striking plate 1b in turn has the plate 2b consisting of the length of the flat U-shaped metal profile, preferably a steel profile with the two legs 3 and the yoke section 4 connecting these legs. The front and back of the plate 2b are essentially formed by the plate-shaped yoke section 4. In the rectangular plate 2b or in the yoke section 4, the striking plate opening 6 with the cover 7 is off-center in relation to the central axis M running parallel to the two long sides of the plate 2b or to the legs 3.

Furthermore, fastening openings 5b are provided in the yoke section 4 near the two plate ends 2b', which are provided in the sleeve-like sections 5b', produced by pulling or pushing through the material and protruding over the back of the yoke section 4. Instead of the end pieces 9 and 9a, two end pieces are provided on the strike plate, each made in one piece from plastic, namely an upper and a lower end piece, of which only the upper end piece 30 is shown in Figures 11-17. The lower end piece is designed as a mirror image of the upper end piece 30, namely in relation to an imaginary line of symmetry SL, which lies parallel to the upper side 31 in Figures 11-13, which, when the end piece 30 is fastened to the plate 2b, lies perpendicular to the central axis M of the striking plate 1b, namely furthest away from the plate 2b.

The shape of the end piece 30 is essentially determined by a plate-shaped section 32 in which a bore 33 is provided, which extends with its axis perpendicular to the surface sides of the section 32 and on the top side of the section 32 visible in Figure 13, which (top side) rests against the side of the yoke section 4 facing the legs 3 when the end piece 30 is attached to the plate 2b, merges into a larger recess 33' which can accommodate the section 5b' of the opening 5b, which is coaxial with the axis of the bore 33 when the end piece 30 is mounted. A pin 34 protruding over this top side is also formed on the top side of the section 32, specifically for engagement in a bore 35 provided on the plate 2b, in which the pin 34 is held, for example, by clamping. In the area of the edge 31, a bead-shaped section 36 protruding over the top is formed on the top of the section 32, which extends with its longitudinal extension over the entire width of the plate end 2b' perpendicular to the central axis M when the end piece 30 is mounted on the plate 2b and forms the area protruding over the plate end 2b' or the end piece of the end piece 30.

The plate-shaped section 32 consists of a section 32', which is completely accommodated between the legs 3 of the plate 2b in a similar way to the part 10, and a section 32", which, when the end piece 30 is attached, protrudes over the underside of the plate 2b or the free edge of the legs 3 (see also Figure 12). When the end piece 30 is mounted, the section 32" lies with a long side 37 flush with the outer surface of the adjacent leg 3 and the opposite long side 38, which runs parallel to the long side 37, is offset inwards. Near the long side 38, the section 32" also has a groove-shaped recess 39 that runs parallel to the long sides 37 and 38 and, when the end piece 30 is mounted, parallel to the legs 3, which is open towards the end 31 and the opposite end of the end piece 30. Between the groove 39 and the long side 38, the section 32" is designed like a strip (strip 40), in such a way that this strip 40 protrudes over the underside of the section 32 or section 32". The section 32" in this embodiment is used to achieve a positive engagement between the end piece 30 and a corresponding profile or recess in the frame and thus an additional anchoring of the locking plate on the frame over a large area, namely via the end piece 30 and in addition to the fixing screws.

In the case of the striking plate 1b, the end piece 30 and the additional end piece designed as a mirror image of it are each fixed at least until the striking plate 1b is mounted using the pins 34 engaging in the holes 35 and then, after the final mounting, are held in place by the fastening screws passing through the openings 5b and 33.

Claims (20)

Strike plate for use in a window or a door, in particular on a frame of a window or a door, consisting of a plate formed by a U-profile with legs (3) projecting over the underside of the plate and of at least one end piece (9, 9a) fastened to one end of the plate (2', 2a'), which for its fastening extends with a fastening section under the plate (2, 2a), is positively embraced by this, protrudes with a further section (11) over the plate end (2', 2a') and there forms a closure (11) adjoining this plate end (2', 2a'), characterized in that the end piece (9, 9a) is designed in two parts, namely consisting of a first part (10, 10a) forming the fastening section and a second part (11) forming the closure, and in that the second part (11) is attached to one end of the first part (10, 10a) is or can be attached by clipping or snapping into place. 2. Strike plate according to claim 1, characterized in that the first part (10, 10a) is plate-shaped. 3. Strike plate for use on a door or on a window, in particular for use on a frame of a window or a door, consisting of a plate (2b) formed by a U-profile and of at least one end piece (30) fastened to a plate end (2b'), which for its fastening extends with a fastening section under the plate (2b), is positively embraced by it, protrudes with a further section (36) over the plate side (2b') and there forms a closure (36) adjoining this plate side (2b), wherein the fastening section (32) has at least one projection or pin (34) which engages in a bore (35) of the plate (2b) to fix the end piece (30) to the plate end (2b'), and wherein fastening openings or -Boreholes (5b) for fastening means, preferably fastening screws, are provided, characterized in that at least one of the fastening openings or bores (5b) in the plate (2b) is congruent with a fastening section (32) of the end piece. 17. Strike plate according to claim 16, characterized in that the bore (33) in the fastening section (32) on the side of the fastening section (32) facing the plate (2b) has an extension (33') into which a funnel-shaped recessed area or section (5b') of the at least one fastening opening of the plate (2b) extends. 18. Strike plate according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the respective end piece (9, 9a, 30) or its parts (10, 10a, 11) are made of plastic. 19. Strike plate according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the fastening section (32) of the end piece (30) is provided with at least one section which projects beyond the underside of the plate (2b) or beyond the free edge of the legs (3), preferably for insertion into a groove or recess of a stock frame. 20. Strike plate according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the plate (2, 2a, 2b) has two legs (3) of the same height, connected to one another via a yoke section (4).
