The subject of the invention is a training device with a support frame, at least one weight block arranged in a shaft so that it can be raised and lowered, and at least one exercise unit which has at least one actuating element connected to the weight block.

Such training devices or strength machines are known from obvious previous use. They have one or more exercise units (e.g. leg curl, butterfly/bench press station and the like), the operating elements of which are usually connected to the weight block via cables or pulleys. The shaft with the weight block is usually arranged in a central area of the base of the device in order to ensure sufficient tipping safety. The

Training units can be arranged on one or more sides of the shaft.

The present invention is based on the object of creating a cost-effective and space-saving training device of the type mentioned above.

The invention solves this problem in that, in the ready-to-use state of the device, the support frame has two vertical outer sides that form a right angle to one another and that are not overhung by parts of the device, and in that the shaft for the weight block is arranged in the corner of the support frame formed by the two outer sides that are arranged at right angles to one another.

First, some terms used in the context of the invention will be explained.

The term support frame refers to the stationary parts of the device that absorb static and dynamic forces that arise during use and transfer them to the base or adjacent walls. This support frame can be an open frame construction, a closed housing or a combination of both. 25

A weight block is arranged within a shaft so that it can be raised and lowered. The weight block can, for example, be made of plug-in weights that are common in power machines. The term shaft refers to the space within which the weight block is raised and lowered. The shaft can be provided with end walls all over or just on some sides.

The training device according to the invention has at least one exercise unit, which has at least one actuating element connected to the weight block. Examples of exercise units include a butterfly/bench press station and a leg curl (leg lifting module). Other exercise units can be provided that are not connected to the weight block, such as a stepper (stair climbing device). The kinetic energy of the stepper pedals is usually converted into heat in hydraulic cylinders.

According to the invention, the support frame has two vertical outer sides that form a right angle to one another and that are not overhung by any parts of the device when ready for use. In the context of the invention, the term outer side is intended to include both a partially or fully clad outer wall and (preferably) an open frame construction. The decisive factor is that this arrangement of the outer sides allows the training device to be placed in the corner of a room, as explained in more detail below. Since these outer sides then directly border the walls of the room, flat cladding or end walls are generally not required. The feature that these outer sides are not overhung horizontally by any parts of the device when ready for use is intended to ensure that the device can be moved into the corner of a room in such a way that the outer sides mentioned are flush with the walls of the room.

According to the invention, the shaft for the weight block is in the from the two outer

sides of the supporting frame. This feature is to be understood as follows:

If you draw a 90° circular arc around the corner of the training device formed by the two outer sides that meet at right angles, which connects these two outer sides or their imaginary extensions, and whose imaginary circumference includes all parts of the training device including the exercise units, the weight block is located closer to the center of this imaginary circular arc (i.e. the corresponding corner of the device) than the exercise units including their operating elements. If necessary, several such exercise units can be arranged along the imaginary circular arc circumference (preferably concentrically) within the 90" angle enclosed by the outer sides.

The training device according to the invention is intended for installation in the corner of a room. Preferably, the supporting frame parts of the two outer sides arranged at right angles are flush with the walls of the room, so that horizontal forces acting on the supporting frame can be dissipated into these walls. Any tilting moments that occur are absorbed by the walls of the room, so that cross braces and feet that extend far outwards beyond the center of gravity of the device to dissipate such tilting moments into the surface (the floor) are not required. This simplifies the construction of the training device and significantly reduces the space required for installation.

In line with this concept, the shaft for the weight block is located near the corner formed by the two outer sides, i.e. the corner of the room. Deviating from the teaching of the state of the art, this shaft is therefore not located in a central area of the training device in the vertical direction, but in a corner area explained in more detail above.

The shaft is preferably limited on two vertical sides by the outer sides of the support frame, which enclose a right angle. On the remaining vertical sides, it can be completely or partially covered by end walls. This covering can have a gap on the side facing away from the corner of the room, which, in the case of plug-in weights, serves as a passage for the weight lock and for selecting the weights.

The European standard EN 957-2 requires that, under certain circumstances, the vertical sides of the weight shaft of stationary training equipment be partially or completely covered. According to this standard, the covering of the sides of the shaft facing away from the user is particularly important in order to prevent crushing injuries to third parties who are near the training equipment.

According to the invention, the room walls, which are flush with the outer sides arranged at right angles to one another, form a cladding of the weight shaft on two sides. The corresponding outer sides of the training device itself therefore do not have to have a cladding, they can be formed by an open frame construction.

If necessary, the shaft only needs to be covered with end walls on the sides facing away from the corner of the room. This can be done, for example, by two end walls connected to the supporting frame, each of which runs parallel to an outside and thus, together with the room walls, encloses a rectangular weight shaft. Alternatively, other shaft shapes can be provided, such as an essentially triangular shaft, which is limited on the side facing the user by an end wall running at an angle of 45° to the room walls, or a shaft in the form of a circular arc segment, the corresponding end wall then has a circular arc shape.

The training device can have two or more exercise units that are arranged within the right angle enclosed by the two outer sides arranged at right angles to each other. If these exercise units have a longitudinal axis (such as a training bench), they are preferably arranged with this longitudinal axis in the radial direction, i.e. pointing towards the corner of the room. Several exercise units can thus be arranged concentrically and thus space-saving within the right angle mentioned. The exercise units can be, for example, a training bench, a stepper (stair climbing device), a leg curl (leg lifting module), a butterfly/bench press station or the like. Such exercise stations are familiar to the expert and do not require any further explanation here. Any cables or cable pull connections that may be required between the actuating elements of the exercise stations and the weight block are shown in

carried out in a conventional manner familiar to the expert.

The training device according to the invention can have a boom that is connected to the support frame and extends into a closed right angle formed by the two outer sides that are at right angles to each other. It particularly preferably extends along the bisector between these outer sides. It preferably runs approximately horizontally in the upper region of the support frame, particularly preferably at the height of the upper edge of the support frame.

The boom can be used to guide cables that connect the weight block to exercise units in a force-transmitting manner. The boom particularly preferably has a suspension for a punching bag, punching ball or the like. In this way, a punching bag can be hung up in a stable manner and freely accessible from the side at a large angle. The weight of the supporting frame and in particular of the weight block ensure that even a heavy punching bag is stably suspended; a suspension from the ceiling, as is usual in the state of the art, is unnecessary.

The advantages of the invention are briefly summarized once again.

Placing the training device in a corner of the room allows the device to be very stable (tip-proof) despite the absence of side-projecting feet in these two directions. The floor space required is smaller than with conventional training devices, in a certain room

It is possible to use corners of rooms that would otherwise remain unused.

The material and packaging costs are lower because both the two sides facing the corner of the room do not require protruding feet or a covering for the weight shaft. The reduced need for covering material for the end walls of the shaft reduces both the material costs and the manufacturing and transport costs. A particularly good use of space is possible through an approximately concentric arrangement of various training modules, which are aligned with their longitudinal axis on the weight block arranged in the corner of the room. The training device according to the invention requires comparatively little effort when cleaning (dusting) because it is flush with the room walls on two sides.

The training device shown in Fig. 1 and 2 has a support frame made of hollow profiles. This support frame has horizontally running stand profiles 1 resting on the base, the upper limit of the support frame is formed by profiles 2 running in the vertical direction essentially congruent with the frame parts or profiles 1. The connection between the floor or stand profiles 1 and the upper end profiles 2 is made by vertically running profiles that are arranged at 3, 4 and 5. As can be seen in Fig. 1, the upper end profiles 2 and also the corresponding floor profiles 1 run perpendicular to each other and thus enclose a right angle.

Two outer sides of the support frame are formed by a horizontal section of the floor profiles 1 and the upper end profiles 2 as well as the vertical profiles 3 and 4. With these two outer sides (pointing to the right in Fig. 1) the training device according to the invention is set up facing a corner of the room. The vertical frame part 3 then points exactly into the corner of the room, the profiles 1, 2 and the respective vertical profile 4 lie flush against the respective room wall and can be additionally attached to it if necessary. Force components acting horizontally on the training device in the direction of the arrows X or Y in Fig. 1 (i.e. tipping moments) can be diverted into the room walls.

The support frame has two additional hollow profiles in the floor area and the upper end area that connect the floor profiles 1 and the upper end profiles 2. The upper of these two profiles can be seen in Fig. 1 and

designated with the reference number 6. These two profiles are connected to one another in the area of the bisector of the floor profiles 1 and the upper end profiles 2 by the vertical profile 5.

Another vertical rod 7 within the weight shaft indicated at 8 serves as a guide for the weight block 9 formed from plug-in weights.

The exercise unit is a training bench 10 with a height-adjustable backrest 11, which has a push bar 12 and a leg curl 13. The push bar 12 and the leg curl 13 are connected to the weight block 9 via cables 14 and pulleys in such a way that when they are activated, this weight block is raised or lowered again. The force is applied to the push bar 12 and the leg curl 13 for training purposes by lifting the weight block 9.

As can be seen in Fig. 1, the shaft 8 is closed off by the room walls on the sides facing away from the training unit. On the sides facing the training unit, it can be covered by vertical end walls if required, which are preferably attached to the upper profile 6 and the associated profile in the floor area.

Figures 3 to 5 show another embodiment of the invention which has two exercise units. The same reference numbers designate comparable parts. 30

The training device has two exercise stations. The first exercise station has a seat 10, a leg curl 13 and a butterfly station with butterfly arms 16 are provided as the actuating element.

The second exercise station has a stepper with pedals 17, whose up and down movement is braked by means of hydraulic cylinders 18.

In particular, Fig. 3 shows how these two exercise stations are arranged in a space-saving manner within the angle spanned by the two outer sides of the training device, which are arranged at right angles to each other.

At 19, end walls are indicated which cover the shaft 8 on the sides facing the user.

Fig. 6 shows a further variant of the training device according to the invention in a view from above. The boom 20 is used here to hang a punching bag 21. This punching bag 21 is easily accessible for training; hanging it from the ceiling is not necessary. The other training devices arranged on the support frame can be folded away or dismantled if necessary in order to improve or increase the accessibility of the punching bag 21 and thus the range of motion of the person training.

Claims (7)

Protection claims 1. Training device with a support frame (1, 2, 3 _f 4, 5), at least one weight block (9) arranged in a shaft so that it can be raised and lowered, and at least one exercise unit which has at least one actuating element (12, 13, 16) connected to the weight block (9), characterized in that, when the device is ready for operation, the support frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) has two vertical outer sides which form a right angle to one another and which are not projected beyond by any device parts in the horizontal direction, and that the shaft (8) for the weight block (9) is arranged in the corner of the support frame (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) formed by the two outer sides arranged at right angles to one another. 2. Training device according to claim 1, characterized in that the shaft (8) is limited on two sides by the outer sides enclosing a right angle. 3. Training device according to claim 2, characterized in that the shaft (8) is covered on the remaining vertical sides by end walls. 4. Training device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it has at least two exercise units which are arranged within the angle enclosed by the two outer sides arranged at right angles to one another. 5. Training device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that it has a boom (20) connected to the support frame (1,2,3,4,5). 6. Training device according to claim 5, characterized in that the boom (20) points in the direction of the bisector of the two vertical outer sides which form a right angle with one another. 7. Training device according to claim 5 or 6, characterized in that the boom has a suspension for a punching bag (21), punching ball or the like.
